Title: Should pics on first posting be a must on this section ?
Post by: Level42 on July 09, 2008, 06:37:58 pm
Am I the only one who is annoyed not to see any pictures in the first posting about a restore project ? I think there are too many threads without pictures, especially in the first posting.

Like we ask people to name their monitor brand and type in the monitor section, could we ask/demand at least one pic of the machine the restoration is about ?

Just an idea....

B.t.w., I think everyone seems to be pretty happy with the separate section for restorations ? I know I am :)

The first things I look for in a new resto thread are the story of the hunt, pics, and the goal of the project.  The more information you give us the more others can help you.

I too am happy with the new forum.  Before I spent most of my time searching through Project Announcements looking for resto threads.  This makes searching through the different project types much easier.

I say no.  I think pictures should definitely be forthcoming, but I often don't have pictures myself, but do want to log the progress I'm making.

I agree.  A before picture should be posted very early in the discussion.

I agree with this completely. I find the story of the hunt more interesting than the restore half of the time. Many restores are different, but most hunts are different.

Dude, you've seen my resto threads.  If I had to have pics for everything my resto threads wouldn't be the odysseys they are.  Often times I make my post and then backfill with pics when I have the chance.

<------- Guilty

How about this... When you finally do have photos, MODIFY the first post to add pics of the original condition.

I think that's acceptable.

I think that is acceptable, but I just don't like to wait.
