I just got 2 happs ultimates for my controls.
my question is they don't seem to self center, is this common?
Also, the plastic hubs (one for wood one for metal) where exactly do they go?
-
No, they are suppost to stay centered.
the plastic I belive is on top. (on handle before entrering it on the base). I don't have a ultimate though. Go to http://www.happcontrols.com and they have a diagram for it
-
Yes they should self center without any problem. try taking it completely apart and put it back together using the diagrams on happs site. If it's still not satisfactory, happs sells a 'heavy spring' that might make the action more to your liking.
- pink.

When I made the mistake of buying mine, they never stayed centered, so I threw them at a wall. No, not really, but I should have
-
The reason why they are not centering is because you did not use the plastic hubs (they are actually called pivot cylinders), ounce these will be installed corectly, they will self center!
The pivot cylinders go on the joystick shaft before inserting the shaft in the joystick base assembly. The longest one is for wooden control panels and the shortest one is for metal control panels.
Hope this helps, you can check the happs control page for an exploded view f the joystick and how to assemble it at this address: http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/507608xxx.htm

well, I've got everything installed, the problem is that the 8 way actuator is not striking one of the microswitches, the other 3 sides are fine, but the one cannot activate. It's close, it hits the red button but not enough to get it pressed in to register. Any ideas?
( I bought 2 ultimate's one's perfect the other has this problem)

What type of material is your control panel. If it is wood, take a look at the access hole," Where the Joystick sit's in", and make sure that it is not a tight fit. I exp. the same thing, I fix the problem by using a file to clear around the edges. Also, take a look at the cherry switch. Is the switch bent? What happens if you switch the cherry switch out with another switch.
I hope this will lead you in the right direction.
