Title: Maximus Arcade multiple mame versions
Post by: brock.sampson on July 08, 2008, 03:18:13 pm
Does anybody know how to use multiple versions of mame in maximus arcade?  I really want to use the gyruss and time pilot diff that Leapinlew made for mame 105 but I need mame 118 for better gun/mouse support.  I posted on the maximus arcade forum but no replies yet.

IOW, if there's a place where you tell MA to launch MAME.EXE, change that to MAME.BAT and have MAME.BAT spawn the different versions of the .exe, based on the rom name that gets passed in.

AFIK right now it is not possible.  I think it is supposed to be added in the next version.

I have 2.10 beta so I'll take a closer look tonight.  If that doesn't work I'll give this batch file a shot.

This is something that is highly desirable and has been suggested for future version of Maximus Arcade.

I'm pretty sure it will be implemented in the new version 3.0 of Maximus Arcade, but that may be a long ways off.  I sent Mameseer (the author) a quick note to see if he can implement this in the next beta 2.10 version.  (We are currently at 2.10 beta 6).  I'm thinking he may be able to add an additional "MAME2" in the dropdown list in preferences.  That way you can simply point it to another directory with the older MAME in it.

Stay tuned.

What I suggested, is thier should be a way to pick the exe it loads from in the game list, although if thier was 2 versions of MAME I could add MisfitMAME in one instead :) But both options would be nice as some games such as TGM2 only work on certain versions.
