Title: Nintendo Vs. Cabinet as a MAME Project - Price Question as Well
Post by: cmoses on July 07, 2008, 05:51:07 pm
I just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions on this idea?  I have an opportunity to get a Nintendo Vs. empty cabinet.  I don't think it's considered a classic, although it looks just like a DK machine.  It is completely bare bones, no monitor, guts, power supply, joysticks, buttons, bezel or marquee.  Just a wood cabinet and a blank 2 player control panel.

My concerns are that as a MAME cabinet I would probably have to do some modifications to the control panel as I am looking to have a little more than 2 joysticks and 2 buttons per player.  I was thinking more along the lines of 2 Joysticks with 6 buttons, a trackball and a spinner at the bare minimum.  Ideally also a 4 way stick, but not necessary.  In order to do this I think I will have to add on a control panel box and modify the cabinet.

Let me know what you think and also what a fair price for the bare bones cab should be.

Depending on your location, I think you should look around a little more and you will probably find a much better cabinet for the type of project you talking about.  Games that require six buttons per player don't really work on cabinets as small as that one.
