David: "No he's dead."
Jennifer: "He's dead ?"
David: "Yeah"
Jennifer: "He wasn't very old."
David: "Well he was pretty old. He was 41."
Jennifer: "O yeah ? O that's old."
from War Games.
Just watched it and this struck me. I bet I agreed with them back in 1983 :)
Damn time flies.......

when I first saw that movie many years ago, I loved it. I didn't question it, so at that point I was like; hmm, is 41 really that old? I guess it is...
all except that part where he's playing galaga with 3 ships left, dies, and it goes straight to game over.
-
Yeah, I actually thought the movie still is pretty good today. I'd thought it to be cheesier with 2008 eyes. It's also a great document of how technology changed in just 25 years time. Almost every scene made me think: we'd do that so and so now. Calling information to get a phone number ? Hah, we got internet for that ! :) Etc. etc.
Still the message of the movie is even stronger today: Don't let computers decide over our lives. :D

Just saw a poster for war games at the local theater, looks like they will do a special 25 Anniversary and they will show it.
Trailer also said that it included special preview of sequel...
Found some info

Additionally, only at this one night event, get a sneak peek at the making of the sequel - WarGames: The Dead Code.

A sequel? Weird.
-
lol i JUST watched this last night good movie :) never seen it before
Its not really open for a sequal with the original cast unless they get another hacker going into the system

A sequel? Weird.
Well it's not that wierd considering hollywood executives seem to be on an 80's kick right now. Heres a few of the 80's movies with sequels or remakes in production right now: War Games, Short Circuit, Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure, Karate Kid, and Beverly Hills Cop.
From what I've seen of the War Games sequel, it will have little to do with the characters from the first movie and will basically just be a similar storyline to the original updated with current technology.
Heres the trailer:

seriously? SERIOUSLY? a short circuit re-make? it already has a sequel, just leave it alone. these guys are better at ruining good movies than rule 34
-
"Mr Potata Head... Mr. Potata Head...Back doors are not secrets."
I just loved the interaction between those other 2 computer guys in that movie. Why make a sequel? (rhetorical question)
-
Lets face it hollywood hasn't released many good moves over the past few years so they are just remaking classic movies which sucks
Bill and Ted without Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves won't be good it would of been cool to have another new movie but with george carlin having passed away recently we wont have a rufus :'(

Karate Kid ? NOooooOOOOoOOOooooOoooooooo not Karate Kid PLEASE !
WTF is Karate Kid without Pat Morita ? ? ?

Rumor is that Will Smiths 9-year old son, Jaden Smith, is going to play the star.
And the rumors for Bill and Ted are that they won't use a phone booth to time travel, but will use something "funkier." Also, their band will be called the Atomic Gorillas instead of the Wyld Stallyns, and in the movie they will be worrying about missing opening night of the movie The Dark Knight because thats a "hip" pop culture reference.
Needless to say I expect both of these movies to be horrible.

I love the new doctor who series :D but thats a police box not a phone box it just happens to have a phone attached
-
often referred to as a police telephone box. It was a telephone box for use by police, and civilians to call the police. In a police box the telephone was mounted on the outside, and the interior of the box was effectively a miniature police station for use by police officers.

I thought that WALL-E is a remake of Short Circuit :dunno
In any case, No. 5 is well and truly dead people - let him rest.

What would make a better Wargames 2, is some Chinese hackers breaking into the Pentagon and attempting to nuke Iran.
It would make for a better thriller with the cover of US kids causing it.
Something like a Tom Clancy novel, but sped up like the Matrix.
Instead of it sounding like a cheesy remake, it would be an edge of your seat KungFu come Hackers film that would be 100 times better than Swordfish.
*If any film producer is reading this (like John Woo) remember you saw it here first.*
