DO NOT put an X-arcade in a cab, believe me, spend the extra bucks and get the real parts, you'll thank me in the long run. That extra 20 bucks you spend to get better quality everything will SOOOO be worth it, seriously. X-arcade parts are cheap for a reason, they might work, but after so many hours of play, you're gonna wish you had the real thing.

Well... I don't know about that... they are slightly chincier (sp) feeling but they still feel like arcade parts.
Now, if we are talking about shlopping an x-arcade on top of "real" cabinet, that's gonna look a little silly in my opinion (or at least un-authentic, but lets not start THAT conversation up again). Also the width of the x-arcade control panel, I'm pretty sure is smaller than the average arcade controlpanel...
didn't we just discuss this? (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=8126)
Do you already have an x-arcade spectre? (you should read that thread especially tiger-heli's comments) i.e. are you going to be buying one specifically for this project? (if so use an affiliate link - either sain'ts or mine =P) Are you intending to use consoles (ps2/gc/x-box/dc) in your project or just looking to make it super easy.
*shrug* do what you like... of course... And Good luck cabinet shopping.

Here's one of Zakks projects with an x-arcade (http://www.mameworld.net/massive/Cabinet/Project_X/project_x.html) on arcade cabinet.
just for reference/ideas. *shrug*
