I haven't been able to access the MAMEworld site. I noticed it was down last night.
Anyone have any info? I'm hoping it's just a server changeover and not something more serious.
-
mameworld.net = no work for me
mameworld.info = work
-
I didn't know they had mameword.info. I had checked .com and .net
It's probably just a DNS issue then.
-
Believe they are on different physical hosts, could be mistaken.

This has happened before. It's funny how long people wait - like, not at all - before they cry worry.

Yup, mameworld .net and .info are on different hosts. The MW .net is the older, less reliable one; the less reliable part is the reason MW got the .info one on the different host.

I certainly wasn't crying, just figured this was the place to find the answer (which it was).
BTW: they are all back up now.

So it is just me or is the MW.net website not working and the info is working? Does someone have a link on the info page to the hiscore files etc?

It's acting that way again, from what I've read at MW.info forums. (It's not just the front page, it's the whole hosting service provider, and all web sites on it.) :P

So how does one get their hands on the hiscore.dat files etc if they're linked to a website that rarely works? Is this something we should uploading to the forums for reliability?

"rarely" is too harsh, IMO. I'd say "works inconsistently (~95%)". It's up fine for months, then down for half a day, up for a day, up and down for a week, then fine for a couple weeks, down a day, up again, etc.
(It's up ATM.)
MAWS (http://www.mameworld.net/maws/)is far more important IMO than hiscore.dat, and that's on the same inconsistant (and free) host. And then there's the art pages (http://www.mameworld.net/mrdo/mame_artwork.html), a few mameDev's WIP pages, EasyEmu (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/), many variations of mame, as well as lots of other non-mame stuff. Backup all that?
:dunno

You didn't get the memo about everything and the universe being centered around my needs? :o
