Title: Wire bundling in side cabinet how do you do it?
Post by: stan2323 on July 02, 2008, 08:02:24 am
I was wondering how some of you bundle wire inside your cabinet.  After some thought I decided to use Velcro held in place using a #8 ¾ wood screw with a ¾ inch fender washer.  They are easy to screw into the wood, will not poke through the ¾ in plywood, can be used over and over, they are cheap, easy to use, and are secure enough to hold the wired in place.  See pictures below.

What methods have you used?

I used some self-adhesive plastic clips. Basically the same idea as the velcrow, but a rounded clip goes around the wires.

Nintendo cabinets have screws with black twist ties attached to them. I reuse those a lot.

I used a lot of those plastic staples with 2 small nails on them.  You simply place your wires between the staple and gently tap it into the wood.  It gives you flexibility because if you want to give the wire some slack you can just leave it untapped by a small bit.  The wires will still retain tension as well.  I especially liked these when wiring the sound and various computer cables I had floating around inside my cab.  If you need a picture of what I am talking about, I can probably come up with one.

Most game manufacturers use white nylon cable clamps and 4" zip ties. That's also what I like to do.

I'm using zinc plated U staples and 3" zip ties.
