Title: Touchscreen Skin Ideas

Just posting the following images to give a few ideas. This is from a jukebox GUI that I came across. I haven't tried this software as the download link on the page seems to be broken.

I made the current BnB skin for freebox and I could make this skin very quickly however I don't really like it so I doubt I will make it. However I am getting ready to make two new skins for FREEBOX and one will have colors like that. Skins don't really take that much time to make once you know what you are doing.

EDIT: I See the thumbnails. They are just grabs from the video. I will display cover art there, but you can make the cover art for the videos be grabs like that with no trouble and it will show up like that.

I think that software is well over priced and i have not seen anything anywhere near that price. That price is the only reason it would not be suited to home users or BYOAC users. The software is so simple anyone of the jukebox authours on here could re-create that in a day or so. It offers nothing of value over media player to be honest. Don't worry i am not going to make the skin because i can't be bothered to waste my time on it. Sorry for the rant but it you seem to be over protective over any suggustion that freebox has a skin that looks like something else. You might not want to do that with your software but there is no need to apply that to everyone else. If someone makes a freebox skin that clones that then i will not be complaining...

Likewise if someone clones any of the freebox skins that is down to the skin authours to chase up not me. Personally i don't see any real big issue.

I have been playing around with Freebox during the past week and I must say I am impressed so far. SK Jukebox works well on my home PC, but when I loaded it on my kiosk it locked up. With a bit of tweaking, I have been able to get Freebox working well so far.
If you could clone the skin above from the images I posted and also make the Black and Blue skin available in 800 x 600 (for both skins), then I will gladly put my hand in my pocket and purchase V4. At the moment I am using the free V2 on my touchscreen kiosk because it will only let me use 800 x 600 skins, and there's not many to choose from. I know that you have a skin maker with the software, but darned if I can work it out. You stated that it would take you 10 minutes to clone the skin from the above images. $25 for 10 minutes work should be an incentive... ;D

My touchscreen PC cannot be changed from 800 x 600, so I am stuck with that resolution.

Looks like I have to stick with V2 :-\

It took me about 2 hours to make the changes to the skin tool and about an hour to fix up the skin. It WILL need som minor work so expect a second version to be released once eist gets back and tidies it up a little, it does seem ok to me though and is usable.

I don't think your post was really in the spirit of things when you are asking me to do you a favour. I would like to see you ask one of the jukebox authors to convert a 1024 skin for you for free.

FWIW, my touchscreen is limited to 800x600 as well, I have donated and I still wouldn't presume to behave as if barry should be on his knees in the alley behind the bar.

I personally don't think I've ever seen Barcrest really say NO to anybody because thats how much he supports his software and his community. Sure the word donate gets thrown around now and then, but honestly for a hobby its taken up more of his time than his real job. I've asked him to look at something and then he tells me hes off to bed because its 4am and he has to be up for work. Heck he even coded a program that would help him scale the skin from 1024x768 down to something that you can use. If that isn't customer service I don't know what is.

Sure thing ... so long as you reserve your crappy attitude for folks like me, instead of loosing it at our vendors, which is the primary cause of folks like that bailing on their products. After all, who the heck wants to spend time away from the family/TV/bar to code an app that nets far less than minimum wage.

The reason others chimed in and you said in so many words to butt out is everybody knows Barcrest along with the other Juke authors. They bust their butt into the wee hours of the night because they want to. They sometimes feel driven to make it even better. Sure some of the Jukes seem a bit more polished and some seem a bit rougher than the last. Its the authors choice and often they are compaired to others that drives them harder. I know its not always about the money, but you know Barcrest loves his pizza and when I donated a while back what would of bought me Pizza here in the states basically buys a fancy happy meal there. Maybe the UK they should stop being so snooty with their money or maybe he should make more. :soapbox:

I mean your post is basically saying, if you won't do the skin for me barry then i will go and use nipsmg's software. Why bring him into anyway? I had never actually said i wouldn't do the skin, look at my post before you posted that. I actually said scaling from 1024 x 768 to 800 x 600 was a little more work.

Anything in the past i had totally forgotten about, my comment about the spirit of things was a polite way of saying you seem to be posting with an attitude. Maybe it's just me......

No attitude intended.. honest ;)
I haven't been able to try V4 on my 800x600 PC because when I load it, the options button is off the screen due to the size of the default skin. This means that I can't go into the options and load an 800x600 skin.
I recently joined the Freebox forum. If anyone else wants to have a shot at me, then I guess that is the best place to do it rather than here. Last time I looked I was the most recent member, so I shouldn't be hard to find.

This DEF file will load freebox up with the 800 x 600 folder. I will be making a new demo in the future with the 800 x 600 skin and all future V4 releases will contain the skins in both 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 versions.
