Title: What front end will work best for my setup?

I've got a P4 1.7 with 512MB Ram (for now). Running ArcadeVGA and IPAC 4. Currently have 5 buttons for each of the 2 players (will eventually have 6 each).

I want a layout similar to MameWAH, but not as complicated. I want to be able to switch between different emulators (atari, nes, snes, sega, gameboy....), see a picture of the system being emulated and stuff like that. I eventually want to replace the buttons with the LED lightup's, so the buttons that work for that game will glow.

MameWAH just takes too long to setup, editing all the .ini files, is there anything easier/better?

I'm willing to sit down and edit all the .ini's for mamewah if I have to.

how about mala?

handles multiple emulators, the plug-ins could do your led's and with the right layout, you can get a system of the emulated console + the listing of roms to play on it.  Super easy to set up and works great with an arcadeVGA.

Mala is very similar to Mamewah, only less versatile and easier to configure.  Its definitely worth downloading and checking out to see if it fits your needs.

Gotta chime in with the vote for Maximus Arcade.  The ease of use in setting it up is easier than any of the ones mentioned.  No ini's to edit, no possibility of accidentally accessing configs, easy enough for a 2 year old to use.

HyperSpin will also be easy to use with very very minimial setup.  Unfortunately we are still a way from that point right now, but it is coming.

I like maximus arcade also.  It is real easy to configure and already has great pictures of the different gaming systems/consoles.

I would say Maximus Arcade also. Its the only front end I've ever used and I've never felt an urge  to try any other.It fulfills all my needs.

I will add my vote to mamewah. Being new to it at the time it did seem confusing, but once you get your head around it a great frontend.

Not only that but Minwah is always roaming these threads to give advice if needed.

My thumbs up to Minwah and Mamewah for sure.

I've checke out all of the suggestions and I guess I'll stick with Mamewah. I gave MALA a very lengthy try, but it's just not what I want.

I'm just so frustrated with Mamewah because I can't get my Atari2600 to work. I've checked/double checked/tripple checked the .ini file and it still doesn't show it in my list when I access the menu. I'll keep messing with it, I'm sure once I figure out this problem, the rest will be easy.
