I didn't think the new actor or the new style for the Bond character would work, but after seeing Casino Royale and the trailer to this new Bond movie, I'm really liking where the franchise is going.

Stupid title for the movie though.  I remember seeing an interview with the writer of the script a while back and they asked him what the title meant and he said he had no idea because it's not the title he had for the movie.

Checking wikipedia it looks like someone did explain where the title came from, but I still think its a bad title.

Michael G. Wilson chose Quantum of Solace only "a few days" before its announcement on January 24, 2008. It was the name of a short story in Ian Fleming's anthology For Your Eyes Only (1960), although the film is otherwise unrelated.

Though it is an odd title, the one thing I like it is the fact that it's NOTHING like a Bond title. The film titles had almost become a parody of themselves toward the end of Brosnan's run.

I read it many many years ago (actually I've read all of the original Bond books). IIRC it was pretty good. Ian Fleming was an excellent writer. But the connection with James Bond was very tenuous. The story (which is nothing to do with spying) is narrated to James Bond by someone else.

Anyway, none of the Bond films since On her Majesty's Secret Service have even remotely resembled the books on which they're supposedly based.

Well the difference is that this one is not even supposedly based on the short story, the producer just liked the title.  The writer of the script had no idea where the title came from when he was first asked about it.

i liked golden eye and tomorrow never dies, I dont know what other ones brosnon was in; wait, yeah I do, Die Another Day; and it was awful and Halle Berry's horrid acting didnt help.   I know Sean Connery kicks ass though. Youre the man now dog!

oh, back on topic, I like the new bond (Craig)and the new style of bond movies, its different but still not too far from the origins.

One thing I find interesting is that this is a direct sequel to Casino Royale.  It doesn't just have a couple of references or recurring characters; it appears to be a continuation of the same story, from exactly the same moment that the last movie left off.  Has that ever happened before?  I think I've seen every bond except the newest Pierce Brosnan one, but some of them I haven't seen since I was like 12 years old.

Anyway, it looks really good.

That was really good.  I thought it was pretty funny, though, that he said, "We've got a new bond for the nineties cos the world is a terrible place," or something like that.  Since when was it the nineties?   ;D

I thought he said nineties too, but listening to it again, I'm pretty sure he says naughties, which is a term meaning in the 2000s.
