Title: VF2 Monitor for MAME
Post by: Chase on June 30, 2008, 01:22:47 am
Hey Everyone,
Looking for a little guidance here...

I have a Virtua Fighter 2 Cabinet that I will be transforming over to a MAME cabinet.

Question:

From what I have been told, the monitor is a 25Khz (Medium Resolution) monitor, and the only way to use it is to purchase a Universal Video Converter (UVC) as ArcadeVGA will not support it.

So the question is.....What would look better for arcade gaming?  Stick with the original arcade monitor and use a UVC?

Or....pull it out, put a Sony 27" TV with S-Video and use Soft-15k?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

You have a NANAO MS8 chassis. This chassis can work with both standart and medium resolution. If you want the monitor works at 15k,simply move the white plug from CN541(High) to CN540(Low).CN540 and CN541 are near the yoke connector

Wow, Really?

Not to question, but for my personal knowledge, how did you identify that?

If I made the monitor standard resolution, then ArcadeVGA should work without a hitch right?

Yes, it will work, just need to make or buy a vga breakout cable, some monitors will look slightly dim with a avga but ultimarc has a video amplifier or j-pac to fix this issue.

Chase,
The Nanao MS8 chassis is very familiar to me because most arcade games I have to work with have this. Also thank you for the very clear picture .
In my oppinion, this monitor has the best picture quality.

Thanks Phi,
It looks like at this time I will be keeping this a VF2 Game, since it is in good shape.

Good knowledge to know for the future!
