Title: Fixing a coin-op foosball lock?

Sorry if I have the wrong sub-forum.

I bought a used Tornado table and the Op replaced the locks for me. When I got it home I discovered that one lock doesn't work. These are the kind that pop-out when the key turns from 12-o'clock to 2-o'clock. The key turns but the mechanism doesn't pop out. Any idea how to fix this? I tried a dose of WD-40 and I also tried rapping it with a hammer. I guess I can drill it out and replace it with a new lock. Not sure what else to do.

Can you pull the key slightly when you turn?  It may pull out then.

Does it actually unlock when you turn it?

It turns, but doesn't pop. Pulling doesn't do any good.

So I dorked with it for a long while and eventually managed to get it open. I don't know why it suddenly decided to cooperate. Maybe there was pressure from the table top on the lock and after moving the table it's now free. But now I'm afraid to close it again because I might get locked out. ;)

I think I'll take if off and play with it to find it out what the problem is/was.

Can I get a replacement that matches my existing keys?

Try playing with the lock with the top open to see if it works  like that.  It's possible - like you said - that something is binding it up.

You said you just bought it, right?  Why not go back to the guy you got it from and tell him one of the locks he installed doesn't work right?

It's a bit of a drive to get to the op that sold it to me, so I figured I'd just fix it myself. Then again, I'm sure he'd be happy to mail me a replacement lock. He swapped out the locks because he didn't want me to have his master key. :)

I'm sure the one I got is old, sticky, or was temporarily bound up. I'll have to play with it to find out. Once I got the legs on the table, I just left it unlocked and have been playing it instead of with it. So I've made no progress...

Thanks for your help. I'm new to these tables and learning. Next step is to learn how to convert it to free-play.
