Title: Painting MDF help!
Post by: TalkingOctopus on June 04, 2003, 12:51:32 pm
I am ready to paint my assembled cabinet.  I have allready put on 2 coats of primer. I am planning on painting it black.  So....I searched for info about paint on the forum and came up with this:

Rustoleum Satin Black using a fine finish roller.

I know absolutely nothing about paint.  Does anyone have any tips/suggestions/experiences about using this paint.  Are there better substitutes?  (Homedepot only carried tiny buckets of this stuff).

Thanks in advance,

Here are several recent links.  The top one might be most applicable to your situation; I don't know.  In other threads it looks like Rustoleum Hammerlite paint is popular and does a good job.  I like the Valspar I used with a roller.

Yeah I love how your cp paint job turned out too.  Unfortunately I used an oil based primer. DOH!  Is there any chance I could use valspar latex paint or would that be a bad idea?   ???

The back of the Valspar can says to use a water-based primer.  I don't know whether you can use oil under it or not.  If someone else here more knowledgeable doesn't reply, you could always call out to your local hardware/paint store and ask.
