This morning I broke the neck of the tube on my Sanwa 29E31. :banghead:
So basically what I am left with is a chassis for a 27" vga monitor.
Is it possible to get a reasonably priced replacement tube and if so, where?
Could the chassis and yoke be paired with a tube out of something else?
I hate to have a total loss.
It's been tough to find much info on this monitor.I am not sure what brand the tube was. It had a red S overlayed on top of a black Y and the part# was 73sx707y22-dc26-a. Along with the Sanwa model# 29E31S-B there was a sega model# of 200-5949.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

quite a special yoke on those es31s tubes,0.300 mh horizontal inductance on those
nanao ms9-29,ms8-29 and sanwa pm1745 should take that chassis
if you can find a tube to the specs then you will be o.k
where are you??

I am in Iowa near Omaha NE.
What if I were to also remove the yoke and use it or is that not feasible?

the trouble with swapping yokes is that almost always you get geometry issues
it may work well or it may not,
i would bet that rick nieman could match a tube for you.
i can give you the full yoke spec for that chassis if you want
i fit tri sync chassis to these tubes btw

I really didn't want to do a yoke swap but I also don't want to let the chassis go to waste. Trying to salvage what I can from my f' up.
What about compatibility with the guns on the tube? Is that also something that a person has to keep in mind, or are they pretty standard?

yoke specs are the following,
Sanwa es2931s 31 kHz chassis 29" semi flat tube
Rh 0.6 ohms
Lh 0.300mh
Rv 5.3 ohms
Lv 11.7mh
also send the full tube number
remember the tube shape is important if you have a bezel around it,i.e if you have a naomi uni cab then make sure you get the same tube shape or it won't fit too well
sometimes there are differences in heater voltages and dot pitch-rick will know all this though

I took a chance and replaced the tube with a 27" NEC tube that I came across. The horizontal and vertical yoke resistance was a tad higher but fairly close.
I got everything hooked up and fired it up and it worked! Everything looks good but the picture is too wide. With the horizontal width dial set to the minimum the picture still extends a good portion past the edges of the screen.
I was wondering if there was a fix for this.
I've adjusted the width on a Neotec before by replacing a capacitor on horizontal drive circuit with one of a lower value. Is this something I could do with the Sanwa chassis?

i expect a standard t.v to have anything from 0.900mh to 1.9mh horizontal yoke inductance reading,the sanwa runs at 0.300mh-this is why your picture is so big,may even damage the chassis running on this tube
you can make changes to the chassis to cope with this yoke,i would expect what you did before should work-don't know what cap and which value would be needed as i have never attempted to do this

The tube is out of NEC multisync monitor. Which was capable of svga resolutions. I know I take the risk of damaging the chassis but the tube came free and I don't want to spend a whole bunch for another tube.
There probably isn't an easy way to check the inductance is there?
I'll just try to make this work and hope for the best. Thanks for all your help.

to read inductance you need a lcr or inductance meter,maybe your b+ is a little too high

Just wanted to say thanks to everybody for the help. I was able to get the screen to display properly after doubling the value of the "width" capacitor.
The only concern I have is that the horizontal output trans. is running pretty warm.
I thought about mounting a fan close to the monitor to keep things cool but this would probably cause distortion in the picture?
