Title: Lusid's cabinet, want to add 2 driving wheels
Post by: Pitou on June 27, 2008, 09:38:24 am
Hello everyone!

I've built an arcade cabinet using Lusid's plans from here http://www.lusid.net/arcade/

Now I would like to add 2x 360°  driving wheel I bought from Ultimarc, keeping everything else in place.

For sure I'll modify/redesign/rebuid the entire control panel.

Any hints/clues/ideas to adapt them?

Thank you.

Pitou!

I think this topic belongs in the main forum, not woodworking, which isn't helping it get responses.

The Lusid CP is 30" wide not counting the width of the sides and the overhang of the top (it's 34" wide including the overhang). The Happ wheels are about 10" or 11" wide (diameter). There is enough room on the CP for those two wheels and nothing else. See attached picture. I think you need to make a second CP (the one with the wheels) and have it interchangeable with your original CP.

These two threads should interest you:

2. JIMBO's scratch design... (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=70093.0\) In the first post, Jimbo shows a design using two  TurboTwist2 spinners with Mini-Racer Wheels (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=86&products_id=268). The TT2 wheels are removable, so they're out of the way when you're using other controls.
