hey guys if i have folders full of subfolders with unziped snes roms is there a program that will go through all these sub directories and rezip the roms to one folder?
-
Im not sure if I fully understand what you are asking, but would zipping up the entire thing into a file that doesnt store filepaths then unzipping it wherever you want accomplish what you want?
Ive done this with roms as I was messing with the GoodTools directory options. I use the Store option for compression to make it faster.

Then make sure you dont have it store paths, so when you extract it, all files will be in the same directory.

Once you have all your files in the same directory its easy to zip up ones that arent zipped already.
My apologies if I misunderstood the question completely, I am on my first cup of coffee after all

well all of them are unzipped, and I dont feel like zipping each one up individualy one by one........... So how can I batch zip each individual rom to a zip with the same name?

I think every zip utility can do that by default. In winrar, just select all the files you want to zip in explorer, then right click "Add to Archive..." and make sure this option is ticked.

Every file will be zipped with its own file name. Try it out on just a few to start to make sure it does what you want. I know winzip has a similar ability, and any command prompt archiver should be doable by using *'s in your syntax.

I would be interested to know if you can do this with Winzip software. I cant for the life of me figure out how to do this. I have tons of unzipped NES and SNES Roms that I need to zip up but I can only seem to do this one at a time. I can zip them all into one zip file all at one time but that does me no good. I have to find a way to zip each one up in seperate zip file automatically. OK I see from your prior post you say Winzip has this utility but I cant seem to find it. Do you know how to access this function?
-
BTW, I cant figure out what GoodTool does? Can you elaborate?
Thanks

Apparently I was wrong, and WinZip sucks. It looks like you would have to get http://www.winzip.com/powertips.htm#comline in order to do it. Which begs the question, why use Winzip? Go get Winrar, and be happy.
GoodTools are used to audit your rom collections.

Because I already have Winzip. Would prefer not to pay for another zipping software.
Thanks for your reply.

Then try getting the free command line utility, from what they said you should be able to batch zip that way.
You could also get the evaluation version of WinRar and do this task, then remove it. :dunno

You don't have to pay for Winrar - and it's just a small utility. I have several archiving programs on my pc for different situations. Winrar is probably the most versatile for tasks as described (good for people like me who do a lot of uploading), and other programs like 7-zip for higher compresion situations.

I guess gonzo90017's reply must be invisible or something. :laugh2:
Here's his link again: http://www.emuware.com/romzipper/

I saw his link but since I already have winzip I thought I would if it had the capability to do this before I go downloading more software.
