Title: Marquee review
Post by: brock.sampson on June 24, 2008, 04:30:55 pm
I'm building a cabinet for a buddy at work.  We used the same image for the control panel.  I just scaled and cropped the image for the marquee.  I have been using gimp to work on the artwork and used some the built in logo scripts to create the lettering.  I'm no artist so looking for some input.  We are set on the image and color the cp is already printed and I'm wiring it.  This is a scaled image of the original which is 25" x 7 5/8".  Does this lettering look okay?  Anybody have suggestions for a better name?

Wow....that's a lot of black. Maybe some white highlights would help the light come through a bit.

Do you mean outline the lettering in white?

possibly. Also lighten the red a bit. It may show okay, but it could be too dark.

The font is fine, and the name is okay. It's nice NOT to see a marquee with Mame, Arcade, or -cade on it, but it's rare when that happens.

Sorry for being so vague.

Gotta agree about the amount of dark space. Personally I think the lettering is all wrong. It is a very "comic book" font and doesn't really match the explosion behind it. My £0.02
