Title: Updating MAME walkthrough/directions?

Does anyone know where to read on how to update MAME? Example would be to install the updates (u1 u2 etc...) that are available on mamedev? I think there is a program to help you do it but when I tried to get it to work a couple years ago I could never figure it out. Now I can't even remember the name of it.

Is this the best guide/directions? because this is the same guide I followed last time I tried it and I could never figure it out.

Thx for the reply. however I was really meaning more about updating the ROMS and Mame.  I probably was not clear about that i the original post.

I basically wanna update my mame roms and Mame to the new versions that come out, u1 u2 etc.....

You won't find compiled binaries of the updates at the mamedev site.  They only release source code there.  The only compiled binaries they distribute are the actual releases and not the updates.
