Hello.
Can anyone point me to an existing guide for complete dummies on using NullDC with GDI dumps?
I can't for my life figure it out and google isn't helping either.
I can't even run games.
Ultimately, I want to run it on my cab and launch it from MALA.
Thanks.

I dont think GDIs are supported. As far as I know theres no way to do it, you have to redump as ISOs.

Well, I think you might be mixing it up with Chankast.
Checkout this link about NullDC features and you will find GDI support a few items down the list.

Update:
I just got it to run GDI images directly (no mounting or anything). My problem was with bad bios files.
By the way, massive88, I'm reading your explanation (http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=134858&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1&new=1208357858) on how to get it working on a front end but I can anticipate a problem. Games from different regions require different sets of bios files and I don't know if those can be specified through the command line.
Thanks.

My mistake, perhaps improper regions were my problem as well then, maybe I should go back and check that out. You might want to make sure you have this checked (http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27230&st=0&p=280579&#entry280579) as well. I have no experience with it, but it sounds as if it could fix your problem?
You could always have multiple installs of NullDC set up for different regions, then tell the front end which copy to launch. I know this is doable through Mamewah fairly easily, not sure what front end you are using. In the space scheme of things, its not like the emulator is whats hogging the gigs.

I was considering having a copy of NullDC for each region as you suggested but the obsessive compulsive in me was looking for a more elegant solution to the problem.
I just tried the "patch GDI ROM region" trick and it does exactly that. I can now play Jp and U games with the same BIOS set.
Let me know if you have problems getting it to work.

That appears to have been my problem as well, my GDI dumps now work just the same as my other images. I just wish I had found that solution 2 months ago when I was setting all of this up.

I am glad to know it worked for you.
This is surely the setup way to run a DC emulator.
