Hi,
You may remember my topic about grabbing a bargain (link (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=81040.0)). I stole the PC from inside and put it in my personal cabinet. So the machine inside is a much weaker one now.
My question is:
How could I get the most profit from this machine. I could sell it whole but it's so huge it would be very hard to ship and most people won't be able to fit it in their house.
I thought of selling it piece my piece on ebay (monitor, j-pac, arcadeVGA etc) but I'm not sure the mainstream will want to pay much for these.
Let me know what you think my best bet is with this :)
Thanks

I think your best bet is to sell it for a lot of money to maximize your profits.
I should write a book.

Put a legal collection of games on it and sell the whole thing for way more than you have in it. (Which isn't that much)

When you write the new ebay description, put L@@K! and RARE! in the description.
I've noticed that on nearly all of the overpriced multi-game auctions.

Also have a huge block of text somewhere on the page that has a bunch of random words having nothing to do whatsoever with your item. The more popular the words, the better. ;D

Ok but in all seriousness. I've already had someone PM me about buying the monitor separately. How much do you think it's worth?

It's hard to put a price tag on things when ebay is so unpredictable these days - too many 'shop' items in my opinion that aren't that much cheaper than retail thanks to the absurd ebay charges and silly new rules.
However, the arcade machine category in ebay uk is still fairly niche, so tends to attract a lot of collectors and restorers as good parts are harder to source in the UK. People never appreciate and account for the collective cost of the components in a MAME'd arcade, instead just seeing the several-hundred pound price tag and shooting for the cheapest possible (the fact you got it so cheap indicates interest would be low, regardless of spec - the PC never really affects the re-sale price).
I'd advise splitting it up to monitor, PC, interfaces etc. and put them all on low-start auctions; you'll probably get more than you paid if you advertise them right. Use a template similar to the one I gave to pboreham to sell his machine and mirror the points he made about the item for sale.
