Title: Anyone else collect vinyl records still?
Post by: lanman31337 on June 18, 2008, 10:24:13 am
I have probably 300 Jamaican/UK reggae (late 50's to early 70's) singles and 20 or so LP's, and some 70's - early 80's punk rock.  I just picked up an X Ray Spex single last nite.  When I dj, I use strictly vinyl.  I love the sound.  Anyone else still collect vinyl?

I have a pretty nice collection of .......Level 42 on vinyl and quite a number of other stuff too. I have a pretty decent record player, a Technics SL-1410 which is the home version of the "standard" DJ player SL-1210. It has an expensive Empire cartridge. Sounds sweet and beats ANYTHING digital.

I have over 500 45's - mostly pop and rock from the 70's through today and 200 LP's, same time frame.   I'm using a Numark turntable (designed for DJ's but still sounds great).    And yeah, I agree with Level42, beats digital hands down (but not in portability of course).   When I want to listen to an album (really listen, not just background noise) I break out the vinyl.
