I've been thinking I would wait until completion before posting my latest project. Well that never works... So here it goes, it started with a scratch and dent cabinet from the local furniture store with a broken front panel ($75). So I stripped it out and threw in two bose speakers and a receiver I had lying around that sound great but look beat up. I removed the glass panels (some of which I did'nt need for my application anyways. Got some pegboard cut to the size of the glass I removed and then covered them with speaker grill cloth. i used the top glass panels for a marquee and worked up a design and sent my order to MameMarquees.com. I mounted the glass using little wiring clamps turned around backwords. Worked quite nicely btw. I mocked up the top where I will recess my 15 inch ELO touchscreen. I plan on encasing the marquee windows with a light from behind attached to each door so the entire cabinet won't be lighted inside. I still hav'nt planned the sides and am looking for ideas. having more graphics printed would be too expensive at their size. I prob will just paint them black. Anyways here are the Pics...

Ok, I realize that the backing boards show their holes and i'll have to revisit them. I was hoping they would'nt show. The inside already had a touchlamp and it was on for these pictures which makes it look worse than it is. (Like I said i plan to light only the marquee area. Something like a cake pan with lamps mounted to it and attached to the back of each door.
-
Wow, that looks cool! Do you need the added protection of the backer board? If you make a frame strong enough, you could get rid of the holes completely. Otherwise, you should paint it black as well as the face of the speakers behind it. This will help hide them.
Good luck!
-
Looks good dude. If you don't mind me saying but you might want to remove the handles off the doors to make it look even less like a cabinet. I like the iluminated jukebox graphics you have on there they look sweet.
-
I had'nt considered that, I'll take it under advisement. Although, that would leave holes. :( I think I'll pull the grills off and remove the backing material where it shows.
-
Just will the holes as you would on a cab and sand them back and paint to match the wood, they shouldn't be too noticable then. You could always cover them with somthing or place those LED bolts through the holes?

Just got a used dell p4 2.4 Gigahertz for $35 bucks last night on craigslist. (score) Added a 320 gig Harddrive $79 @ Fry's electronics and will begin software hunting this weekend. Considering Xlobby2. Any hints/advice?

Figured out what I will do to the sides. I bought 4 sconces (Wall mounted accent lights) from Lowes for $12 each. I remove the plastic light difuser and added one giant plastic piece that extends into both units. Together they form a sort of classic art deco Pillaster for either side of the jukebox. I plan to light the pillasters with 36 inch blue automotive neon. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300234252628&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:MOTORS:1123) which should match the marquee artwork. Here is a picture of the mock-up.

Dude that looks great. I don't have a clue what you brought but they will look great illuminated.

Well today its like 108 degrees in Vegas. So i worked last night on recessing my ELO touchscreen into the top panel. This morning I trimmed it out and added the first coat of stain. So far so good. This is my first 'real wood' project so I don't expect perfect results, but I think its pretty good. Anyways here are the progress pics.

Not done, but time to get it out of the dusty work shop. Still have Pillasters, lighting, remote start of Stereo and Second monitor left to do. Just added second monitor to the list as I found the flat position of the screen tough for Karoke and watching videos.

nice work!, you wont regret setting up the second screen!. it really adds to the overall JB experience and kicks ass for karaoke!

Nice!!! I like the idea of the Pillasters, I've been looking for something like them for my juke for some time (I keep hearing about this Lowes store, if only we had something similar where I lived! ).
Thumbs up for doing something different for your juke :applaud:

My inlaws found it in a consignment furniture store and asked me to make a juke for them. It has no labels on it. If anyone can identify who made it I'm sure lots would like to know. I actually have lots of progress on it, but I've been keeping it under wraps. Maybe I'll post up tonight.
-
very nice juke man!! cant wait to see what you do with the cabinet in the last pic there!!!
