In my MAME machine, I am going to use an ATI X800 Pro. I also have a GeForce 7900GTX, but I did not know if that would be overkill for MAME use. I mainly play 90s fighters (raster) games, but I would like to start playing CHD based games (Area 51, Blitz, etc). I am aware that MAME is largely CPU dependent, but I was concerned about the video.
The TV I am using has component, and I was going to use a DVI to component converter and plug it into my GPU. The one I found on monoprice.com is NOT compatible with the X800 (according to their customer service) so I am lost as to which card to use.
I see a lot of people using the old ATI 9550 for MAME. Would this be sufficient, even for CHD games and games like Street Fighter EX2?

Yes... The things the ATI seems to have over the Nvidia is better component and oddball resolution support.
I have a 9550, and chose it mainly because it was a budget priced card that supported component at the time I bought it (100 bucks back then!). They're now under 30 dollars and still a great choice in my opinion.
