If I had like 8 of these available, would there be enough takers on the board? I ask b/c I'm REAL close to pulling the trigger on the 10 for $650 (shipped) on e-bay. That would basically give me $5 each profit for my time (a whole 8% margin - and considering the money I've lost on undercalculating shipping over the years, I don't think I'm exactly gonna retire to Tahiti on it... Also, I'm losing 3% in paypal fees.). I would guarantee that I would not overcharge on shipping. Once it is all set and done, I would estimate that the whole cost for something like this would cost you under $80 for the whole thing (that's considering it should be sub-$10 to ship parcel post w/ insurance for $100). The guy on e-bay that's selling them cheap wants $80+$18 shipping. Keep in mind that is DOMESTIC.
I wouldn't do the buy until I had 8 units spoken for and money in the paypal account. I know it sounds shady, but you can check out my e-bay feedback. User name is padstack1.
Also, my paypal address is confirmed. I would be willing to provide any sort of info (short of putting myself @ risk w/ SSN, etc). I can give my cell #, address, etc.
Anyway, I just noticed a high demand for these here and considering that I need a couple myself, I figured maybe we could all win. Either way, just let me know if your interested.
**Edit** - Shiping would be more in the $13 range. Sorry for the misrepresentation.
-
I would be interested in one, but I would need to sell my arcadeVGA and Jpac to fund it. Anyone need those? ;D
-
I would also be interested.
-
If you can give me an estimate of the shipping costs for Italy, I could be interested in a couple of them, as I said in the other topic.
-
yeah I want at least 1 what res do they get up to?
-
1024x768
-
I am interested. Do you have a link so we can check them out?
-
You can check here (http://search.ebay.com/ELO-TOUCHSYSTEMS-ET1545L-8UWC-1-15-LCD-NO-BEZEL_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40QQsatitleZELOQ20TOUCHSYSTEMSQ20ET1545LQ2d8UWCQ2d1Q2015Q22Q20LCDQ20Q28NOQ20BEQ5AELQ29)

~$13 (with $100 in insurance) - shipped fed ex from a kinko's location
-
If you can give me an estimate of the shipping costs for Italy, I could be interested in a couple of them, as I said in the other topic.
As much as I'd like to help, I would advise against it. The calculator that I get from fed ex is over $118! :o
USPS is cheaper @ ~$60... Wow...
-
I just bought one yesterday or i would.

USPS is cheaper @ ~$60... Wow...
Since I would have paid international shipping plus $85 for each monitor from the original vendor, if USPS is $60 for two monitors, that would mean 100 bucks each, which is almost as much as I would've paid if I lived in the USA and bought them directly. So it's still feasible...
Can you confirm me $60 for both?
-
If this is going to go down in the next few days let me know. If not I may have to pass.
-
I may be interested in one. But I would have to be put in the '9 or 10'. IE, don't count on it. I would love it, but it would have to clean some stuff out or my wife would go ballistic.
I actually wanted to build a photo booth for my kids and this would be perfect...
-
yes, absolutely.
-
If this is going to go down in the next few days let me know. If not I may have to pass.
It's possible, but that would mean everyone in this thread buying 1 except myself and doctorwho buying 2. Not likely.

Sorry. That was for 1. two would be roughly $103.

It looks like there is definitely some interest here. If you are seriously interested (i.e. if I said go tomorrow, you would paypal me the cash), PM me with your zip code and qty.
I would like to try to do this quick (ask my wife, it's always that way - LOL!). Here's my personal contact info:
Tim Grindstaff
2620 E Ridgewood Dr
Seven Hills, OH 44131
(you can check this with Paypal to know it's a legit account and address)
ebay feedback is for user name padstack1
IF this pans out, I would have everyone paypal me their money and then once I placed the order, I would accept the money and place the order. That way, if someone backs out and we don't have the money, I don't have to send it back and you lose 3%.
DoctorWHO - we would need to work it out so that if it either went over you would send me the difference once you got your receipt, or you would send me a little more than the shipping quote and if it went over I would use that and send back the rest. I don't want to single you out, but if I miscalculate shipping to Oklahoma, I don't mind eating a buck or two. If I screw up shipping to Italy, I don't want to eat $20.
-
Well, I'm out... wife wasn't interested... It would make a GREAT table top, or what I wanted to do was build a photo booth / computer area for the kids. I thought they would love it.... oh well...
-
Count me in for one
-
Ok, Here's what we have so far:
Jeepmonkey - 1
Me - 2
DoctorWHO - 2 (pending shipping $$)
Sharidan - 1 (pending sale of his stuff)
mountain - 1
nipsmg - 1
myntik - 1 (if it goes down quickly)
gonzo90017 -1
Malenko - 1
That is 11 right there! I think I can get the seller to sell 11 instead of 10 (put up a special auction or something, I'm sure).
Here's where the rubber meets the road...
I will be pm-ing everyone that is interested my cell phone and work e-mail and paypal address so they have info on me that should make them feel secure about the cash.
Also, I think these might JUST fit in a flat rate box so that should save us a couple bucks on shipping too.
All I ask is that you reply with your address so I can make sure the shipping will be in the range I mentioned above. I will also need the money paypal'd before the end of the week if possible as well. I will not claim it until we have our 10 spoken for (ounting my 2), and each of you should have (by now) received personal info on me to make my life slightly more difficult if I tried to take the cash and dash.
If anyone is out, I will need to know. I will NOT accept paypal payments until I have enough people agreeing to run with this.
PMs on their way!
-
Don't need one of these right now, but I work on these things installing cash register bits
and thought I'd share this:
Here's one of those elo touchscreens in action during a major refurb I toured around doing last summer:
I forgot I had a futurama stored on my flash drive, was re-imaging the drive, so it wa safe. Maybe.
I'm always hoping for that 'dispose or recycle' touchscreen upgrade assignment.. I'd save a lot on shipping.
Sorry for the OT chatter. Back to your usual business.
-
Ok, as it stands I have PM's with addresses from 5 people. With one of them potentially wanting two screens and myself wanting 2, that gives us 8 serious buys. Not trying to be too harsh here, but if you're in, we need to know!
Thanks!
Tim

nothing says "I'm in" more then cash......
You have sent a payment!
You have sent $85.00 USD to padstack An email will be sent to the recipient.
like I said if its more then 85 I'll send ya the difference
EDIT:removed email address (thought it had already been posted)

You shouldn't post email addresses in the forum.

no sweat on the e-mail, man. It's not like I don't get 10 tons of spam as is! LOL!
-
Well, if DoctorWHO still wants two (hefty price tag there for shipping!), then we're to 8.
The seller currently doesn't have a 10pc lot listed right now anyway, but I know he has the qty (he listed a lot of 100 not that long ago).
Malenko - not sure what's up, but for some reason your money was automatically accepted. Is that because we're both verified on paypal?
If it falls through, I'll make up the difference.
nipsmg sent money, but it's still considered unclaimed. anyone know what would cause that?
BTW, here are the list of people who have joined (at least sent their zip for shipping quote):
malenko (paid)
nipsmg (paid)
DoctorWHO (might have to back out due to shipping costs)
JeepMonkey
Sharidan
padstack (x2)
So no pressure to anyone, but this is looking to be 7 or 8 at this time.
Mountain, gonzo90017, & myntik - you guys still in? You three would most likely put us to the mark. If we can get close I can probably find a creative way to get rid of the last one. We need at least 9 confirmed though (counting my two).
-
Just saw this. I am in for one.
-
I could be interested in one. Could you find out how much shipping would be to the UK please?
Could you also find out how much shipping would be for two, I'll try to find someone who wants one and share the shipping costs if its worth it.
Thank you :)
-
OK. Now ad Moloch and Mountain to the mix (mountain maybe two)
Here's how it shakes out:
malenko (paid)
nipsmg (paid)
DoctorWHO (might have to back out due to shipping costs)
JeepMonkey
Sharidan
padstack (x2)
Moloch
Mountain (x2 MAYBE)
Franco B (pending his acceptance of a shipping bill like the Doctor's.
Franco - the shipping would be roughly $65 for one and $105 for two. None of that counts duties or anything like that. I have no clue how to figure it out.
Ok, not trying to force anyone out b/c I don't see why we can't help as many people as possible, but if I take two and Mountain takes 2, we would need either one more from the international folks or need to move one more domestically.
We're REAL close! One more and then it's time to collect the money (with the exception of the two that are already paid up). Who's in?
-
Padstack: I'm in at least for one, but since my wife forgot to recharge my rechargeable credit card, I'll have to wait til monday morning to paypal $$ to you. I'll let you know if I take the second one too... (hope never dies)
-
Alright! With the doctor's confirmation of 1, we should be in (If, in fact Mountain you really want 2).
Otherwise, we need 1 more. Once I get a confirmation on 10, I'll post again asking everyone to paypal in. Hopefully we can get this rolling on Monday.
I'm stoked!
-
Nice, I'm psyched. My money's in.. everybody ante up! ;D
-
I was away for a day. hit me with a im if I still have a spot and i'll pp the loot today
-
I was away for a day. hit me with a im if I still have a spot and i'll pp the loot today
Alright! Mountain could only take one, so this would be 10!
PM is on the way. Monday evening this should go down (I've got some crazy work stuff during the day, but I should be home around 5 or so to do the deed). I'll post on here w/ the info!
-
Can you get 1 more?
-
I was wondering if you ever bought these monitors and if so do you have any more I am very interested in one let me know at frytex@msn.com
-
OK. Everyone should have gotten their PM's with shipping except the last two (frytex & squirrelydw). It's time to start paypal'ing the cash. WHen everyone's money is in, I'll make the purchase. (I believe I already have money from 3).
Let's see who's really serious!
-
Room for one more rider?
-
OK, here are the people who are paid up:
Mountain
Malenko
nipsmg
frytex
moloch
me (duh!)
If I missed you, please let me know. (This is as of 11:45PM Eastern)
Here are the people that said they want to do it (i.e. I have addresses from them):
the 5 that have already paid (mentioned above)
me
DoctorWHO (might have to back out due to shipping costs)
JeepMonkey
Sharidan
myntik
squirrellyDW
somunny
I would like to get this going Monday (tomorrow) evening. If we have 10 people by then paid up, I will place the order. Those who have not paid will have to sit this one out. If we have MORE than 10, the vendor has tentatively told me it won't be a problem. If we have less than 10, we will have to give it another day. I don't want to be a jerk, I just don't want to be holding anyone's money any longer than I absolutely have to.
Remember, the sooner we start this, the sooner we're showing off our new touchscreens!
-
Ok. Now adding one more to the "paid" list:
Mountain
Malenko
nipsmg
frytex
moloch
me (duh!)
sharidan
Time's a wastin' people! :)
-
Paypal sent for two
-
ding - you have loot
-
Just to confirm, the total is $70 + the qouted shipping price?
-
Just to confirm, the total is $70 + the qouted shipping price?
correct
-
Ok... Here is the latest tally... It looks like we have enough people to pull this off now!
I will be placing the order tonight after work. I should be home at approx 6 PM.
Mountain
Malenko
nipsmg
frytex
moloch
me (duh!)
sharidan
myntik
somunny
drwho (x2)
jeepmonkey
I'll post more when I place the order! If you get your money in before I get bak from work, I'll get you in too (I confirmed I can get up to 50).
-
Do you have a picture on any specs on these? I might be able to swing it.
-
Everyone who has paid up:
Mountain
Malenko
nipsmg
frytex
moloch
me (duh!)
sharidan
myntik
somunny
drwho (x2)
jeepmonkey
gonzo90017
That's 13 right there (if I only end up taking 1)!
I have contacted the seller and he has agreed to hook us up with 13 at the price we have ben talking about. I'll keep everyone posted. Hopefully he can get the BIN up tonight and I'll place the order then.
I have accepted everyone's money. A couple of you have paid either by check or I assume credit card (b/c it's showing a status of "unclaimed" even after I accepted it. I'm chancing that no one is trying to screw me here (although I could probably flip 'em on e-bay and break even). No offense intended to anyone.
I'm pretty stoked at all the touch screeney goodness headed our way!
-

Sorry man. No hard feelings, but I had to place the order out of respect to the people I was holding money for. If someone backs out, I'll let you know who and you guys can work out the $$ or something and I can send to you instead of them instead of double-shipping fees getting involved.
I will definitely keep you posted if there's a next time. Also, once this goes down if you aren't able to score one, I'll give you the contact info of the guy we're doing the buy with and maybe he'll give you a discount since we're taking like 25% of his stock in one buy.
-
thanks, but they really aren't what I was looking for. Hope everything works out
-
All - so far, the auction isn't up yet. I doubt it gets up before morning. Just wanted to fill everyone in. Probably partly my fault. I asked for a confirmation on the size of these things, and I think he thought I might back out if they were too big. he replied to confirm and hasn't replied since. Looks like we have to wait another 12 hours.
-

Hope it's not mine. My credit card company charged the sum right away. ???
-
Hi guys. I didn't want to alarm anyone wiht the CC charge thing in paypal. If it was aproblem wiht the process, I would have mentioned it to the person via PM. I probably shoudln't have even mentioned it. Sorry for any confusion!
-
Just got off the phone with the seller. They had set the auction up wrong (had it for $845+shipping, not $845 shipped). All is good now and I just placed the order. Apparently these all came from a Wal-Mart photo kiosk liquidation. Money back guarantee. I'll test them before I send them back out to you guys. Here is the auction number:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=120273989714
You'll notice I used a different seller than the one we originally talked about. I asked for a new auction and he jaked the price up (you can searh by his user name and see what I'm talking about). The other guy offers a 7 day money back guarantee for the SAME monitor. Both are in OK. I assume they got them from the same liquidation sale.
Just wanted to update everyone. Per the guy that works there, they should ship either tomorrow or Thursday. I should get a tracking number once they ship.
Now, so people don't freak, I m heading back home for a family reunion on Friday morning. There is no ISP in the town I grew up in, and broadband (other than satellite) isn't even an option. The dial-up tops out at around 33.6. I might not get to post the tracking number until Sunday. I am taking my laptop and if I get to a hotspot, I'll update then, but I didn't want anyone worrying.
We're that much closer!
-
Does it come with the cables? You need the VGA cable of course. ;D But also the usb cable in order for the touch function to work. No big deal, i'm just wondering?
-

Nope. monitor only. If you need a vga cable though, you can pick one up from monoprice for under $5 shipped.
-
Cool. I'm basically just giving everyone a heads up so they can purchase them now so they can be ready when they receive their monitors.
-
What type of USB cable does it take? I'm guessing it's an A-B cable, but I've seen things that require an A-A cable, which is dumb.

It requires an A/B cable. The original seller in my thread over in the Jukebox forum sold these with all of the cables. Kinda sucks that these don't have them.

A/B cable, look at the pix in the auction looks like i need to crack open the piggie bank a lil more

Sorry guys. I didn't intend to cost anyone any money. The original seller jacked the price up on us. I probably should have asked up front, but I didn't think about them being included.

For what it's worth, I got a quote on monoprice.com for both cables @ $5.70 shipped.

So if you did a bulk buy on monoprice for everyone, the price/person should drop pretty good. Is that an option? Also, do these monitors require a power supply, or just a standard pc power cable?

judging by the pix onthe auction, standard power cable

Standard power cable. I would be hard pressed to imagine that we don't all have one or two of these around somewhere.
There would be no real benefit for a group buy b/c buying 13 makes the average cost $3.50. $2 and change (plus paypal fees) definitely doesn't really change the game much if you're looking to buy the cables anyway.
I fully admit I should have looked into the cable thing first, but I had just assumed that since they were kiosk pulls that they wouldn't be included in either auction. I had approached the original guy and asked him to put up another auction for $550+$100 shipping. He put up one for $625+$100 shipping (both for 10). (which would have been an extra $7.50 each)
So basically, I thought I was getting us all the same deal. In reality, it's $5 on the not as good side. I think the highest I told anyone the shipping would be was $18. For that person, the original monitor could have been purchased for $80+$18 shipping = $98. For this person, the one from me will be $18+70+$6 (rounding up) = $94. Not as good as originally thought, but still a shade better.
At this point, I've already made the purchase and all I can offer is an apology. To those who are closer, your shipping was less and it's still a little better yet. I think I have been upfront enough to show that this wasn't intentional.
If anyone is in need of a power cable, let me know. I have a few extras laying around and an toss on in your package when I send it. I don't know if I have this many though so it would be first come, first serve.
-
I have so many cables laying around it's not even funny. That's not a concern for me :)
-
Padstack,
No worries bud. You have done everything right by my count. This is still a great deal and I am sure everyone involved would have eventually bought one from the original guy @ $80 + shipping.
No apologies needed
-
May I hijack this thread for a minute. I purchased one of these from hitech assets?
Is this the same company?
I'm having an issue with mine http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=81373.0
If anybody has any answers, thank you.
Sorry for the hijack.

No need to apologize, man. You did us a great service, since no other was willing or had the courage to do it. :applaud:
As for the cables, I think I've got a dozen each in some drawer, so no worries for me. Thanks again, man. Hope to thank you personally when I'll come to America... one day...

Well, it would have been. they jacked the price when I asked for a new auction (they had been selling individually pretty regularly and he sold a lot of 100 for $5000 so I tihnk he got cocky).
I don't know much about them except that these were a great deal. The company that I work for sells them and these go for well over $300 new. To answer one of the questions in your thread though, they do NOT need to be in a bezel to work. I would try contacting the seller or ELO through their website (and don't mention that you bought it through ebay - I know, duh!)
-

Thank you.
that's not good to hear about hitech.
they are in the same city as Vantage Point Assets, same area code, but different zipcode.
good luck
-
Sent Hitech two messages to ask if they shipped in Italy and shipping costs. Never got an answer. Sent one to Vantage, they responded right away: "No, unfortunately we do not ship to Italy." But they DID respond, at least. This show professionalism.
-
When I called vantage to set up the auction, he claimed he didn't know of the other guy. I can't say that I know it's correct, but if you look at their feedback ratings, I don't think either has anything to gain by lying. I figure that when Wal-Mart sold the kiosks, there were multiple lots and a couple people were at the auction and bought them. Just MO.

Doh... I forgot about this thread. :banghead:
I was totally intersted in one of these. If someone wants to backout or you do another order please let me know.

if you really want in send me a message. As luck woould have it I send the loot for this item for my next juke project and a guy 30 minutes from my work is selling 2 old upright megatouches. I know I'll use it at some point, but the this order is going on the back burner

Dude, we got a *small* pricebreak by ordering in bulk. Something on the order of $10-$15. Not a huge deal. You can "buy it now" on ebay for $85 + shipping.

If I wasn't a tool, I would have found the thread on fatwallet where we could have gotten 35% off from microsoft for a BIN purchase through live.com and ebay. I'm one of those people who just gets perpetually irritated by missing a deal. In my mind, I lost money. I did the same thing by forgetting to file the DeBeers claim for my wife's engagement ring. :banghead:
FWIW, you can still get 10% off ANY BIN purchase on ebay with paypal. Do a google search on ebay 35% and you can find out how.
-
I'm not complaining.. trust me :) Got me motivated to buy one, that's the most important thing.

On FedEx vehicle for delivery
RICHFIELD, OH
Nice.. ;D
-
Delivered ;D
-
Now, so people don't freak, I m heading back home for a family reunion on Friday morning.
Well, hopefuly someone is home to take these inside. FedEx tracking shows the packages being delivered yesterday at 3:22pm and left at the side door. I don't think Padstack expected these to be delivered so soon.
-
I see the address is different, so I guess he rerouted the shipping to some friend or relative or his job place.
-
hi all! This is the firsttime since Thursday I've had access to Internet (and cell service, and running water, and... - well, I had runnign water, but you get the point)!
Re delivery My wife brought them all in. No sweat there. I didn't expect them so soon though! I'm pleasantly suprised!
Re address: Seven hills (town I live in) doens't have their own post ofice so we use the one for Independence (ZIP odes are the same for both towns). Everything is fine so far. Per the wife (although hotmail is typically he limit of computer expertise) everyhing came in fine. I am flying from St Louis back to Cleveland tonight and will be home @ around 9:30 eastern. I'll post back with initial impressions and at least try to test one.
Getting closer...
-
i think I cna speak for most of the guys on here and say that another day or two isn't an issue. i've gone 36 yrs without one, what's the rush. so far you seem like a stand-up guy, so relax tongith when you get home.
btw - i'll be singing a different tune 2 weeks from now if I still don't have one.
-
I'd be down for one if there any still available.
-
btw - i'll be singing a different tune 2 weeks from now if I still don't have one.
LOL! I certainly wouldn't blame you. I did check on them and so far, so good. My main rig is a linux box though so I'm too lazy to test on it right now. I'll start the testing tomorrow on my wife's computer.
-
*rubs hands together in anticipation* >:D
-
Ok. Just finished testing the monitors (skipped out of work a bit early today - I was getting a little anxious). All but one work perfectly. I have already called the seller and he said they would put one in the mail for me as soon as I sent pics of the damaged one. The unit wasn't "damaged" per se, but was missing the touch glass altogether! Oh well. At this point, I have no reason to not believe them.
These are obviously pulls (although they stated that). A couple will need some cleaning (just some rubbing alcohol and a cotton cloth) as some of the adhesive that holds the touch glass in place is smeared some.
I tested them with my laptop with the drivers from the elo web site. The manual is there too. In regards to the red and black wires that others have asked about in other threads, they are speaker wires. Not sure if there's a built in amp, but there's a volume control on the right side of the unit.
I am out of town on Wednesday night through Thursday morning. I will be getting some boxes tomorrow. I should be able to send most of them out either Wednesday morning or Thursday night - worst case is on Friday. Regardless, it will be earlier than I originally claimed.
Who's ready for a touch screen project???? :)
-
Do you have any spares? I'd like to start a project and PM'd ya, but didn't get a response.
-
Goz, read back. They did a group buy and got like 15% off. But you can buy individuals from the guy for like 85 plus shipping.
Padstack, if you talk to him again, you might want to ask if he is willing to have his information given out to the group. He might want to sell some outside of ebay to reduce his fee's...
And I still wish I could buy one. I have the perfect project to use one... sigh...
-
Sorry Goz. Wasn't trying to ignore you. I was having some network problems and forgot to respond. There aren't any spares at this point. If someone here decides to back out, you can work something out with them and I can ship to you instead of them. So far though, no one has backed out.
As far as giving the guy's info out, he really doesn't care. It's a company that buys large lots of surplus stuff and resells on ebay. He's not real concerned about his costs b/c he doesn't profit from it.
I certainly don't mind giving his info out once this buy is complete (i.e. once I get my replacement) though. It's possible that they might kick you a few bucks if you mention this group buy and say that you were just a bit late to the game.
-

Correct. It does have a little amp, it is the little circuit board mounted on the back, in the bottom left corner.
-
FYI, most screens should be going out tomorrow. I think there was some concern, but I was in Chicago for work yesterday and today. That left me two days to test and I should be shipping tomorrow.
Just FYI!
-
Ok guys. Here they are. Here is the list of tracking numbers. The most reasonable/insured method was priority mail. I had thought Fed Ex would, but with the size and weight, it worked out to be usps.
Hopefully no one is offended that I put their number on here:
Frytex - 03070020000014193273
Mountain - 03070020000014193365
Malenko - 03070020000014193358
Goz (in a trade w/ somunny) - 03070020000014193280
nipsmg - 03070020000014193310
moloch - 03070020000014193297
gonzo90017 - 03070020000014193303
jeepmonkey - 03070020000014193327
myntik - 03070020000014193334
sharidan - 03070020000014193341
DoctorWho - I was not able to get delivery confirmation, but I did get insurance. I have the forms if there is an issue.
Everyone has insurance up to $100/package.
If you look at the postage, a few of you ended up paying a little less and a few of you ended up paying a little more. None should have been more than a couple bucks. I basically broke even on shipping. If you take issue with it once you receive your package, PM me. I think I came out like $5 ahead in shipping, but ended up sending quite a bit more than that to paypal (which is why I was marking them up $5 each in the first place so it was pretty much break even - I might have made $10 in the end).
Sorry for the delay's in shipping. I just had a lot of stuff happen all at once.
Let me know how everything looks when they come in. I personally tested them all so I know they worked when they left my house.
**edit - give the tracking numbers until monday to get loaded into the USPS system. If you feel "insecure" about the transaction, I can scan the receipts and such and e-mail to you.
-
So no tracking number for me? ???
-
Per the clerk, tracking is not available on international packages. As I said, I did get insurance for $100 on each one though.
-
Looking forward to it. Thanks for putting in the time and effort for grabbing these for all of us. :)
-
Just FYI, the tracking numbers should be working now. If yours doesn't work, please let me know and I'll check the number. It's very possible I could have transposed a number.
-
Thank you for the update.
I'm glad they're being shipped through Usps since I live in an apartment building and always have trouble getting delivery with the other guys.
-
USPS is great for shipping, but sucks for tracking, UPS is great for tracking but sucks for shipping, lol
Thanks for going through the trouble of doing this; if I owe you any extra for shipping let em know. If shipping was less then I paid, thats your tip :p
-

My exact thoughts. I don't really trust ANYONE for shipping, but I know fewer people who work for USPS than the other two and I've heard first hand stories of what they do to packages...
Priority is 2-3 days country-wide, I believe. You should start seeing them on Tuesday. They are packed tight in 3-4 layers of bubble wrap. I figured the less room they have to move IN the box, the better chance they would make it ok. I did a couple drop tests with mine (granted, it's the one with no touch glass to begin with) and it worked out all right. I don't expect problems. If there it, let me know and we'll start the insurance claim.

Can you give me a rough estimate for international delivery, if you know that? Also, did you manage to fit them in flat rate boxes? Anyway, you did a great job for this community, buddy, we couldn't thank you enough.
P.S.: If you could scan and send my papers via email, I would appreciate that, if it's not too much trouble for ya. ;)

That's impressive. Now I don't know if that means that I'm getting it today, or tomorrow, but it's in town already. that's not bad.

Your item was processed and left our BALTIMORE, MD 21233 facility on June 30, 2008. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
mines in the same state..... I'll never figure out why they route through Baltimore though, they do it every time. Philly is much closer :dunno
-
nipsmg we're right around the corner from each other I guess. I work in Windsor
-
Touchscreen is in. It works after installing the drivers and calibrating. Picture looks great, no dead pixels. Surface is responsive. Just a little adhesive to clean, but otherwise looks GREAT.
Thanks padstack, you rule.
@mytnik: small world :)
-
Just got mine a few minutes ago. I know everyone was saying "touchscreen glass", but I didn't comprehend it was actually glass. I thought it was plastic or something! ;D
Mine looks good. I will have to wait until tonight to test it though.
-
Just got mine a few minutes ago too. :-\
-
Just got mine a few minutes ago too. :-\
And yours was domestic. I'm crossing fingers for my international shipping...
-
I got mine... how do you turn it on?
i figured autopower, I have the power cord and VGA cable in, I dont have a USB cord for it (yet)
bad power cord, lol
Anyone have a spare power cord and USB cord for this they let go for next to nothing?
-
Mine tested and worked fine last night after running the calibration program. Thanks again!
-
I received mine yesterday. I was unable to test the touch fuctions, but it did power up and work as a monitor just fine.
Does anyone have a line on a bezel for these things?
-
An interesting thing I noticed about this monitor is that it is actually 15" diagonal. That means these are closer to a 17" monitor than a traditional 15". I call that a bonus score!
-
Hi guys. Sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit.
Gonzo - Let's get your claim paperwork started ASAP. I'll PM you when I get home tonight. These are pretty durable. I'm suprised it was that bad.
DrWHO - sorry I haven't gotten your docs to you. I'll get them out tonight.
To ALL - Please PM me if there are any issues. I don't want to sit on a claim.
Also, Apparently I F'd up some addresses (not the addresses themselves, but I sent to the paypal addresses instead of the PM'd addresses). This is 100% my bad and I apologize. I know a couple of you were trying to sneak them past the other halves. Hopefully I don't get anyone into hot water!
So far, it looks like 5 of the 12 are delivered and 1 of the 5 was damaged in transit. Hopefully the bleeding stops there.
-
Mine is in and looks good condition wise. I haven’t fired it up yet. You may see it posted here in a couple of days. I may need to sell that and a few other parts. I’m trying to see if I can get a head or two to go in on a bulk purchase with me so I don’t have to liquidate any merchandise.
All of you New England gamers and mamers check out my bulk buy thread in the MAIN section.
-
That's a good loking bulk buy. I would be in with you if I:
1) had a way to get them home reasonably
2) wouldn't need a divorce lawyer when I got home! LOL!
GL man! There were several stagglers for the monitors after I placed the order. I'm sure it will sell quick.
-
I hear you on #2. I may need one soon anyway. We just did a bunch of home improvements and the missus wants french doors put in the back. Since we don't have a doorway there now I called a bunch of different home improvement companies to come out to do the work. Basically everyone wants 2k for the labor added to the 15 hundo for the door. So I 86'ed it that project last week, and now I'm talking about dropping a grand on some jamma cabs.
-
That's a crazy price for installation... I wouldn't have done that either. My wife probably wouldn't be so hard on me getting another machine, but I would need to finish this one first... I also have to finish the garage first. I still need a new driveway, gutters put on, siding finished, drainage installed for gutters, and drywall. Ugh... Time to get to work...
-
uhmm. Dude. Screw the cabs. Get the french doors.
Trust me, you can wait on the jamma cabs, and a divorce is way more expensive than then 2k for the french doors. ;D
-
We got new front stairs poured and had a brick veneer added, a 12x15 patio poured in the back, our chimney pointed and we're looking at new living room furniture. If it was the difference of a couple hundred bucks for the door I'm all in. But i was thinking 2 grand total, not 35 hundo. While 15 hundred isn't life or death we do everything cash and carry (except for our cars and our house). We spent too long digging ourselves out of debt to just start throwing things on cards again unless it's an emergency.
-
definitely the way to do it if you're disciplined enough. In that case, I'd probably bite the bullet on the doors. How are you're home improvement skills? I would probably install myself (but I do a lot of that myself - finishing up a 1300 sq ft addition now).
-
Just got mine and it is broken....
Just let me know if you file a claim or if there is some way to salvage this.
-
Wow... This sucks. I have downloaded the claim form and will submit ASAP on both. Please let me know ASAP if any more return damaged.
According to the shipping site, everyone has received them (except DoctorWHO). We haven't heard any complaints yet (and theirs were received yesterday). Hopefully that's a good sign.
I'll PM the others after dinner to find out.
-
I beleive Frytex, Mountain, and Goz (from Somunny) were the only other three left. I have PM'd them. I'd like to knock any claims out all at once. Hopefully they will get back to me tonight (with no issues...).
Both Mountain and Goz have been active on here since receiving them so I have my fingers crossed that no news is good news. Frytex has been MIA since the 18th.

Apparently the touch screen was delivered yesterday according to USPS, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm on my way home, so maybe its there today. I live in a crappy lil town and DC is often off by one day or so.

My god, did they throw that package out of the truck while going 50 mph?!
I got mine out of the box, the bubblewrap seemed to protect it well, and it was all intact. It had to have taken a decent jolt to crack like that.
-
FWIW, here is the link for the drivers in case anyone hasn't checked it out yet:
http://www.elotouch.com/Support/Downloads/dnld.asp
-
Mine had some damage to the metal casing, but the screen works fine after calibrating.
Thanks Padstack and somunny for everything.
-
what was damaged on the casing? I think that speaks to the durability of the glass and the idiocy of a couple fed ex guys...
-
one of these days I'll learn to check PMs first... Sorry Goz! Glad it isn't a big deal.
-
what was damaged on the casing? I think that speaks to the durability of the glass and the idiocy of a couple fed ex guys...
The lower right corner next to the control board the sheet metal corner is folded under the glass and a small chip of glass was in the bubble wrap but again nothing that stops it from working and it will not be visible from the outside of the juke.
-
At this point, I am going to get two claims papers written up. I'll send Gonzo and Moloch copies so they can see what I put on there. Frytex's made it in with no damage, but he hasn't gotten it to work yet. I don't want anyone to think I'm knocking his computer skills, but I would thing it has to be a driver issue since I tested them all (unless one of the sensors is broken off or something). That leads me to be optimistic for the shipping failures to end @ 2.
I'll post back with more progress.
DoctorWHO - did you get my e-mail? I sent you the forms. Were you able to read them?
-
DoctorWHO - did you get my e-mail? I sent you the forms. Were you able to read them?
Yes, got it. You made a little mispelling on my name: first name has one L only and last has two D's. But no prob at all. I put a temporary label on my buzzer with the mispelled last name, so the postman will find me anyway. Just hoping they're delivered intact...
-
Sorry man! I doubt that will be a problem, though.
-
As I said, no prob at all.
Is there a way for you to know if they made into Italy? My local post office still has no record of them and since they took off on June 28, they should've been arrived by now.
-
Not really. It's only been about 5 days so I doubt it's past customs @ this point. When my brother in law was in Iraq, it took over 2 weeks. Now, I know Italy's not Iraq, but it's still a couple miles away. If you sone see something inside a week, we might have a concern. Insurance claims aren't allowed to be filed until 21 days after shipment if there is no delivery.
-
FYI I filled out the insurance claims just now. Hopefully I'll be able to swing by the post office today before the weekend. I have the payments being sent to the addressees (i.e. moloch and gonzo). I'll keep everyone posted.
-
Thank you for everything.
-
Called the toll-free number of my postal service, still no trace of them. They told me to call tomorrow to see if they arrived.
-

Dude, take a chill pill. International with USPS can and most likely will take up to 2 weeks.
-
Since it is my first shipping from USA, wasn't aware it would take so long. Sorry, didn't want to pester anyone, specially Padstack. I'll sit and wait quietly.
-
No sweat dude. I know the feeling. You shelled out cash to some shmekel about a million miles away and want product. No annoyance here. It will take a bit of time for them to get there though.
BTW, Post office closed early yesterday so I didn't file insurance claims. Will file them on Monday.
Happy 4th!
-
alright, I went to the post office today and they said that the mailer can only file the claim if the package is lost. After re-reading it, I do see where damaged products have to be brought in to the post office to file a claim. So, I am sending gonzo and moloch their respective insurance receipts and the claim forms as well as the paypal receipts. I will include my phone number there so you can call me if there are any questions. Sorry for the delay on this. These will go out tomorrow and you should receive them in a few days. I will be sending these either insured or certified so if they are lost, we don't lose money.
-
Insurance info sent out certified yesterday. Here are the two tracking numbers (one is for Gonzo and one is for Moloch - sorry, didn't write down which was which):
70071490000228817549
70071490000228817532
-
Got both today and they look great (no cracks on glass). Will test them this afternoon and let you know.
-
So the moral of the story is, God forbid you ship something domestically... Italy is easier to ship to than AZ or WA...
Wow.
Glad to hear they made it though! IMO, that was pretty quick shipping!
-
Yep, and the courier girl was a hottie too. ;D Had to pay 30 euros (about 47 dollars) for custom duties for both, but still a great deal, considering how much they cost new. Tested one and it works great, the glass is a little off-centered (perhaps due to the fact that the adhesive became unsticky and they repositioned it badly) but that won't be an issue. I'll buy some new double sided foam tape, I'll replace the old and fix the centering. Image quality is perfect. I'll keep you posted about the second.
-
Just a little fun fact on these monitors (the company I work for used to be the mfg rep for Elo). These are class 1 div 2 rated for explosions (i.e. can handle minor explosions in certain environments around chemicals), so they are anything BUT fragile. I kinda figured 1 out of 13 might have an issue just b/c of dumb (bad) luck, but never figured on two.
-
Tested the second. Except for a stuck pixel (that I'll try to fix later with JScreenFix) it works great. Glass is perfect and centered and image quality is perfect. What can I say? Thanks again, buddy.
-
Nice. Glad to hear it!
