Title: List - Which Joystick and Number of Buttons
Post by: JeepMonkey on June 10, 2008, 01:05:11 pm
I know there is a link somewhere on this board which lists games and the type of joystick and number of buttons needed.

I have searched and can not find this thread.  If someone can find it, please let me know.

Also try controls.dat (http://fe.donkeyfly.com/controls/controls.php) for more detailed input info than MAWS, but not all games.

don't forget romlister too.

It's the inverse of what you're asking: you plug in the stick type and the number of buttons you have, and it creates a list for you.  Uses the same criteria as maws, but is stand-alone.  You can also filter out horizontal or vertical games at the same time to really get an idea of how many roms you can play.

Just remember that if you've got an 8way stick, that means you can also play 4way and 2way games, so click those checkboxes too, to get a complete list of all the titles your machine may be able to utilize.

Yes, great list maker, especially since it can use the controls.dat info, too.

Definately 2-way, yes.  But many 4-way games suck with 8-ways (like donkey kong).

I Love this list (http://fe.donkeyfly.com/controls/gamesbycontrol.php) for a quick and easy way to see what controls for what games

I didn't want to hijack this thread... so I started another... but then I realized it wasn't really a hijack (woops).  Check out "optimum number of buttons per joystick" for some numbers from MAWS.
