TV transmission failed here just before the match started. It was fun to see the neighbours walking round the street in panic.

The only part of the last world cup I saw was that Zatarain guy headbutting someone.
And that's more than most Americans watch as far as soccer goes.
(P.S. I know the headbutt guy was Zidane, I was making a little joke there)

Sadly I missed this match yesterday. :badmood: I set up the DVR to tape both France-Romania and this one, and ran out of space on the machine. So I got all of the crummy 0-0 draw, and 18 minutes of this thriller. Meh. Oh well, there's always footytube.com.
Still, glad to see ESPN's HD coverage of the Euros is good. True widescreen, unlike the Champions League, which might as well have been SDTV.

Nope, I meant Kerlon. Nani's was pretty neat, but this kid can cut and change direction while doing the seal dribble. It always ends in an elbow to the face or a kick to the chest though. Hey, at least he gets a free kick!

Oh yeah, I've seen that clip. It always ends badly for the showboater, doesn't it. But realistically, how else are you going to get the ball off of him? Most anything you do will be dangerous play.
There was a lot of debate after that FA Cup match about whether Nani's move was just an entertaining piece of flair, or was intended to humiliate Arsenal. Obviously I'm biased, but it felt like the latter to me.

I think its a valid offensive maneuver. Just like in any other sport, when a player has a special gift, you design a strategy to contain it. Stick a player in his face any time he touches it and he won't have a chance to do it.
I don't think it is disrespectful any more than slipping the ball between someones legs.

Ah, yesss, finally downloaded the match. Gonna watch it tonight. My dad already teased me about emigrating but now I can at least say I have watched it.

Actions like that are generally disliked by the opponent as well as the guys' teammates. Football is a teamsport. Actions like that disrespect the opponent AND the teammates.
