This new restaurant/theater just opened up in Miami (http://www.cobbcinebistro.com/index.html). It's the first one in the country, but there are plans to open others around the country (so far just one in Georgia, Maryland and Colorado and a couple more in Florida). It was by far the best movie-going experience of my life. The theater is relatively small and has the biggest, most luxurious, comfortable seats of any theater I've ever seen. You get to the theater a half-hour or so early and servers come by and take your order, and then they bring you your food. It's pretty high-quality food, on par with something like an Olive Garden or PF Chang's. They also have a full-bar. My wife and I saw Indiana Jones, which wasn't very good, but the fact that we were nursing a bottle of wine throughout the movie made it MUCH MUCH better.
If you are anybody, I recommend going to one of these the second it opens up in your city. But if you are a parent, it's a god-send. We were able to do a full dinner/movie in much less time than it would have taken to actually go to a restaurant, get seated, eat a meal, get the check, and then go to the theater to do the whole movie thing. Usually we just don't feel comfortable enough to leave our 1-year-old with a baby sitter for a long-enough time to do both, so we usually only do one, either dinner or a movie.
Anyway, the whole thing was VERY VERY VERY nice. The theaters themselves are like what a rich person would build in his own home rather than what you would expect from a commercial theater. There's also a lounge and restaurant outside the theater if you prefer to have dinner there and then maybe just have a draft beer or a glass/bottle of wine in the theater. They also have a really cool patio where you can hang out after the movie for dessert and coffee.
Oh yeah, tickets are about 50% more expensive, at $15 apiece. Dinner plates ranged from about $8 - $17.

Maybe not the full VIP treatment, Not a Gourmet restaurant, but nothing wrong with Burgers and Beer. (also cost is $8.50 same as regular theater)
Also No children (must be 18 or older unless with parent) allowed so you never get the crying babies. (except on baby shows where parents can go with their babies).

Yeah . . . Salt Lake City has a place like what you're talking about called Brewvies. It was definitely awesome, but nowhere near the experience that Cinebistro provides. Also, only 21 and over at Cinebistro, so no crying babies there either.
