Title: Ultimarc 360 and Button Question
Post by: lettuce on June 03, 2008, 05:35:44 pm
Right after reading positive posts about this stick, im swaying towards this stick over using a Sanwa for my Egret II cab. On the downside the U360 are alot more money that a Sanwa stick, and also id probably want the stiffer spring and restrictor plates, but if i go for the U360 stick i might not need a I-PAC which would cut down the costing of the CP. My CP will consist of 7 buttons for each player, player 1&2 start, exit, menu, enter, credit, pause and reset buttons. So thats 22 buttons in total, can 2 U360 support this many buttons?

I was going to break that down for you a couple days ago...the whole saving on the ipac by getting u360's vs another route.

I think that the u360's with wire harness should support all of your needs with the shift function.  You definitely need the spring kit, and restrictor pack is nice.

The biggest thing is that the sticks are awesome. It's been mentioned, you won't be disappointed. I use the round restrictor with medium spring. I've tried all other spring and restrictor combos, i keep going back to those though.

Good luck!

It can handle everything with shifted functions, like DK said.

They are SOOO worth having.

Do the U460 have the same button combo's as the I-PAC, ie. Push button 1 and P1 start for a credit, P1 & P2 together to quit etc?

I've not used the shift on the U360, since I only use three buttons from it and have a minipac for my main buttons.

This info is from Ultimarc, and sounds easy enough to change the buttons in MAME:

Button 8 is the shift button
This button has its normal function, unchanged
In addition to its normal function, when held down, it will activate "virtual buttons" 9-15. Any other buttons pressed will register as 9-15 instead of 1-7.
In MAME you might wish to configure, for example, button 9 as "coin". Then holding button 8 and pressing button 1 will generate the "coin" signal.
You can test all button functions by going to Control Panel, Game Controllers, Properties.

You can set these combinations in MAME with any with any encoder/controller.  Not sure on other emu's

The shifted buttons will luckily work with any remappable program that supports joypad buttons.
