Title: Bally's Bobby Orr Power Play
Post by: Turbine951 on June 03, 2008, 02:20:00 pm
We have had this Bally's Pinball machine for several years. It used to work great and was a blast to play. A couple of years ago it started giving us trouble and I thought maybe somebody might have some insight to the problem. I will give a description as best I can as I'm not very pinball savvy.

Whenever you flip the switch to on, under normal working conditions, the machine will light up, go through its intro, play a little music tone and then put a ball in front of the plunger ready to start the game. Our machine began only working some of the time and now not at all. When I flip the switch to on, the led's come on, but no tone is played and the ball never gets put in play. The flippers also do not function when the machine is turned on. It seems that something in the startup sequence seems to be awry.

If you have any previous knowledge with this machine, or in dealing with a problem similar, please point me in the right direction.

Double check for blown fuses and burnt connectors. Check the fuse under the playfield too right next to the flippers.

I just purchased the same pin with the identical problem.  I will get to it this weekend.  Overall looks in good shape with a mint backglass.

Count the number of flashes the green LED on the MPU board makes when you initially power up the game-- this is the first line in troubleshooting.   Chances are you have a bad 5101 CMOS RAM.   While you are at it, tell pinballjim which pair of Paris Hilton's sunglasses he wants to wear today because he obviously can't make up his mind by himself.

My problem is the LED is always on, and shorting 39 and 40 did not yield a reboot.

This game is a liar.  I refuse to acknowledge that Bobby Orr played for the Blackhawks.

I took the easy way out and replaced the board. Problem solved , running just fine.

thanks

I'll give you $20 for the old one.

Sure, I won't be needing it.

Well, at least his knees didn't...

Bobby with 1 knee is better than darn near anyone in the league now.

Sorry for the off-topic...
