I didn't see any other threads..
I get an error "76" path not found.
should be easy... but I can't see it...
mame in d:\emul\mame... all default directories under it (all roms in roms)
so my dirs.ini is

***Enter all your rom paths... Just like you do in a mame.ini
roms=d:\emul\mame\roms\
***Put These in as a base folder. I.E. If your snaps are in e:\mame\snap\ then the entry should be:
***e:\mame\
Primary Artwork Dir=d:\emul\mame\
Additional AW Dirs=d:\emul\mame2\
***The alternate elements allow you to have two more artwork elements besides the usual.
***Simply put the name of the sub folder (like "\controls\").
***Note: Skins must have an alt-element slot defined for this to work.

I have the exact same problem - I emailed HC about it and he said it was probably because my folders are read-only. Though if anyone in the world knows of a way to uncheck 'read-only' from the attributes of a folder in win xp and have it STAY that way...you win a cookie!
I found THIS THREAD (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1024823382) to be somewhat informative on the matter. Although, no solution.

Additional AW Dirs=d:\emul\mame2\
I think it is just that line. Personaly, I've just put nothing after "=" and it is ok.

yeah... we are looking into it but it's your folder properties....
Dragon King can't be installed on a compressed drive or a drive with any folder funny business on it. I'm looking into it but it appears to be a bug in xp itself. Have no clue what causes it.
