Title: Coin Door Question
Post by: cjwalker on May 26, 2008, 02:45:10 pm
Hey All,

I'm putting together an "Ultimate Arcade II" cabinet from mameroom.com (with an X-Arcade controller) and I'm looking to add coin slots.  The UAII documentation says the hole in front is designed to fit the Happ Controls "Multi-player coin door".

I'd like the coin door to accept tokens instead of quarters.  Can anyone tell me if the following shopping list is sufficient, or if there's anything missing or unnecessary?

From Happ Controls:
   * 2-slot multiplayer coin door (item #40-0008-00)
   * 2 token-accepting coin mechs (item #42-3053-00)
   * A 2-slot cashbox (item #42-0605-00)

From Ultimarc:
   * I-PAC2 board (to interface the coin mechs to the PC)

If I understand the Happ Controls web site, the coin door comes with $0.25 coin mechs included.  So I should be able to replace them with the two token mechs without needing any extra parts, correct?

Anyone have any suggestions or corrections?

Thanks.

CJW

pressuming the happ mech is like my happ mech the mechs are held in by 2 metal clips and are 'quick release' and inter changable, so i put UK mechs in mine.

and the I-pac will cover all your needs im sure

You don't even need the token coin mechs if you want to fiddle with the quarter mechs a little to make the tokens work in them -- that's what I did.

And definitely do not order from Happs.  Find someone on these boards that sells the door.

I have the same setup as you minus the cashbox. If you have a tray or similar about 12" wide, you can do without the cashbox and still get that cer-plunk sound when a coin is inserted and hits the other coins in the tray.

I agree with fatfingers also. You can get away with modifying the quarter mechs that come with the coin door to save money on the token mechs. I didn't find out about this until too late and had already ordered the token mechs.

Also, if you do decide to order from happs be careful of the shipping costs. They won't tell you what it is until after your order ships. Order from a reseller if possible.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice!  Is there documentation somewhere on how to modify the $0.25 coin mech to accept tokens?

At the top of this forum is a sticky (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=22251.0). Check it out...

Also, Peale is selling 0.900 coin mechs (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80604.0) for $5.

Also, check out the search function on this forum. Lot's of info there... ;)
