Anyone know of good places to get Tempest parts? I am looking to build a dedicated tempest upright. I dont have anything yet... Just hopes and dreams :)
An empty cabinet seems impossible to find too. And damn it, I missed the auction for the working boards!

Vector games are usually cheaper to purchase working than they are to put together from scratch.
Figure
$400 Monitor
$100 boards
$75 control panel (populated).
$25 power supply/audio amp/iso (the whole big heavy power assembly at the bottom of all Atari cabinets).
$20 Marquee
$40 wiring harness
$100 Converted Tempest cab (or $200 Tempest cab that still has sideart).
So you are looking at over $700, probably more like $800+. You can get a Tempest working good for that price if you just look around enough.

Good point. Only problem is that noone around here has one. I have called everyone I know, which includes almost all the operators in my area.. I did fine one in S. Dokota.. I go there alot to visit friends and family on the res. But its a cabaret and I am not fond of that style. My only other option is to have one shipped($250 - $300)..
I just thought it would be fun to restore one. But first I have to find one, empty or complete.
Maybe I can find some plans that build one from scratch.. Wouldnt be the same as the real thing but it's an option.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. I had no idea the parts went for that much.

The monitor is the killer. A good tested working Color vector monitor from a reputable seller is going to be around $400. You might be able to get one cheaper, but it is a real crapshoot.
