Title: Mamewah newbie

iv sucesfully instaled and configured mamewah to run mame,i thought i would never be able to do it! it looked so complicated but its quite straight foward is you invest the time and read!

anyway im well pleased with it so far but im just confused about adding other emulaters, iv never come across a comandline snes/ genisis emulater so what ones can  i used with mamewah? does anyone have a list of compatible emus?

If I remember I think you need to create separate folders for each emulator you want to run as well as the appropriately named INI files inside the folder as well.

MameWah (as with any other frontend) simply starts a program for you from a list.   If any program is capable of starting from a commandline then MameWah can start it for you.  Basically, MameWah is not "compatible" with emulators ....it can run anything which can be started via command line.

ahh i see that makes sense, so how do you know if a program will start from a comandline?

You need to read the information/description which comes from the program to se how it can "start".   If it can be started from the commandline then the help text should explain (or provide an example) of how to start it with any available commandline options as well. 

Most emulators can be started from the commandline though

I am surprised you started with Mamewah as a frontend though since most people believe using a more user-friendly frontend like Mala, AtomicFE, etc... is much easier to use by a newbie.  There is no need to edit INI files, create directories, etc...

I started with MameWAH as my first frontend. Sure, it takes some reading, and sometimes asking questions, but it's not difficult to use and is a great frontend, especially for lower end PCs. I actually had trouble understanding how to use AtomicFE when I first started looking for a frontend.

I made a preconfigured package for most of the popular systems. Download the zip file, unzip it inside C:\
place all your roms, videos, and snaps in their folders. And launch Mamewah and generate the list. Here's the official thread. (Spanish) http://www.marcianitos.org/foro/showthread.php?t=10321

well at the moement im experimenting with diffrent front ends iv got the hang of mamewah now and iv just downloaded mala which seems a fair bit easier, i cant find manny layouts for mala tho! anyone know anywhere other than the  mala main site?

iv downloaded some real nice mamewah skins but only a few of them work!
