That is nothing short of a crime.
Well, for those who missed it, there's an even rarer 2 player version on e-bay right now:

Wow. Thats really cool. I don't know why, but the paint thinner coin holders are really neat to me...
How many of the two player versions were made?
-
That seems a tad expensive just for one game that isn't even very good. I love arcade history, but not that much. Hopefully, the person who won it is isn't going to auction it off for parts like the guy that bought that rare Death Race cabinet so he could mount the kickplate on his wall.
-
The thing is, it's a rare game. A good analogy is the 1953 Corvette. Performance wise, probably one of the worst Corvette's ever made. There's dozens of other model years for the Corvette that I'd rather buy than the 1953, but the '53 is the first one ever so it has that "first of a kind" attraction to it. Computer Space was the first arcade cabinet ever, so it's got that attraction.
-
How much did Computer Space retail for originally? I'm curious what the appreciation is, accounting for 1972 dollars.
-
I red they had 3milion dollar sales on Computer Spaces, and there are around 1500 sold. That would make 2000$ sales price. With 3% annual inflation added, it would mean 5800$ today.

With the sticks at that angle, it seems much more like some strange, um, extra-curricular device.

I did shorten it. Didn't I ? At least I tried !

The Corvette wasn't the first car ever made.
Where's/What's the first Pinto? ...and who'd pay over 10 grand for it?
There are Corvette clubs. Even car people would appreciate the first Corvette because it's a Corvette.
In 30 years the kids of the arcade people will be putting them in nursing homes and their games in the alley.
Don't worry though. In 50 years gas will be obsolete so in 80 years the last of the car/Corvette people will be looking out their nursing home window watching Corvettes being launched into space with the rest of the trash.

DON'T! You'll doom us all! Don't you know anything? That trash will go into orbit and in about 1000 years, we'll have to produce more trash to defend Earth from its impact. You realize how much damage a 1953 Corvette can do to our bender units on impact?

Youve been watching too much Futurama

There is never too much Futurama.

True.
Anyone know why the two player only sold for $4550? I would have thought it would have gone for as much as the single player, if not more...
BTW, link to the two player:
