Title: What am I doing wrong?

Ok, odd question. But, I have been trying to get past the first course in OUTRUN rev B, but no matter what the timer runs out right as I get past the branch in the road.

The speed is a stable 192/193 KPH, I am not hitting anything and I am hitting my turns nice and tight. Hell I even changed the thing over to easy mode and the timer runs out right before the gate... Is there a way to get faster than 193 kph? I'm at a loss here.. :<

Remember that lever on the original arcade that had low and high on it?      You're still in low gear.

Check your game options for what key will change gear, then press it. Default is space bar I think.

I was thinking that, and tried hitting other keys. never tried the spacebar tho. Also, considering that the "high/low" lever is prolly just a switch, would that mean that I would have to hold down on shift to stay in high gear? Meh, Ill try it out and see how it goes. Thanx for the reply.

EDIT: It turns out that it toggles in OUTRUN. Actually got to a decent speed in it, and even go to the next area...
