Title: Atomicfe question?
Post by: boogieman on May 21, 2008, 10:21:59 pm
Just started using atomicfe and love it.  I do have a question.  Is there any way to avoid duplicate versions of the roms?  I dont really need 3 galaga roms showing up on the selection menu if ya know what I mean!   :D

Duplicate Roms?

you mean clones?

What do you see exactly on the screen?

I guess they are not duplicates, sorry for the bad wording.  It is several versions of the same rom, like how in mame32, the first one appears blue and the others are a purple color.  In other words, I only need one version of a single rom, not several revisions/bootlegs ect.  Is there a way to only show one version besides deleting all the others?

How do you use Atomic?.

Do  you use a plugnplay module or  did you made your own configuration?

If you made you own configuration, you can remove clone by making a gamelist with them. (the game list tab included in AtomicManagerof Atomic can help you to remove them).

The principle : You enable a gamelist on the advanced tab , gamelist subtab of Atomic.  Then you go on the "game list" tab that appear.
you transfert all your rom from the right list to the left list using ">>" button.  then in category file combobox you choose "clone.ini" , then in category you chose "clones" , and you click on "remove category" button.
then you save.

On my web site, check the "simple tutorial" , it explain how to manipulate gamelist.

If you used plunplay module, let me which one , i will say you how to proceed.

Well... I am at that point in the tutorial.  I have taken away mature.ini and BIOS.ini, but I cannot find clone.ini on the menu?

I understand the process now, but how do I find the clone.ini setting in the menu?

Normally  clones.ini should appear in your list , if the file is in  <atomicfe>/metadata folder.

Did you install Atomic last patch?

if you don't have the file, i will send it to you.

Yes, I have the patch installed.  It would be great if I could get the .ini file (advancedspuds gmail com).  I'm not sure what happened but it's not there.  I will also download the ones havoc made, they sound good.

Thanks!  I bet you hear this all the time but that tutorial really helps!   ;D

Those ini files I created are extracted from version 117 - when I get some time I'll update them with 125 so you have the most current. Probably won't get to it this weekend, but soon.
