I bought a Kensington Trackball (2.25" ball) and I was wondering how you folks attach these type of trackballs to the control panel?
I need a way to fasten the case securely below the control panel. I've tried a few things, but failed miserably.
I'll post a few pics of needed. I'm getting very frustrated!!!!! ???

Hmm... I realize this isn't the answer you are looking for, but...
That's one of the advantages of using a real arcade trackball -> they're made to or have mounting plates available to easily mount in an arcade control panel...
With that said... people that do go with a PC trackball usually have to do quite a bit of hacking (of the t-ball case) or creative re-enclosures.
I'd check out chris's cab if you can scare a link to it. 1ups and erik ruuds both used kids balls with good illustrations as to how they accomplished their mounting.

Hmm... got any LOCTITE 454 for Industrial use only? That should do anything... Loctite and gasoline... what can't you do with these things?
Seriously, the LOCtite would be a good quickfix If you didn't care about quality. You could just glue it... just avoid breathing for a while (it solidifys in your lungs)

I mounted one in a metal control panel. I used plastic spacers and long skinney machine screws. I took the board right out of the case and basically suspended the darn thing under the control panel. It's in my son's mini cab. Swapped in an 8 Ball and it works pretty good as an arcade ball.

Well, I got a little ingenious, and with some input from you guys I managed to mount it. (on a proto c.p. just for practice). A nice touch: I'm using T-Nuts and 3/4" machine bolts. This way, there is nothing showing on the top of the c.p.
Question for you all: Where do you get those black 'rings' that surround the trackball, atop the c.p.? Is this something you buy? Is it something you can make? Or are you al using some generic black rubber rings originally intended for other uses? (this is what I would like, just dunno where to find these)

I don't know about others, but for the arcade trackballs (happs, wico, betson, suzo), that black "ring" is called the "lip" of the case, so it comes with the TB. :P
You might be able to fine some ~2 1/8" o.d., ~1 7/8" i.d. (outer/inner diameter) plastic washer. That's the sizes of the suzo/wico 2 1/4" TB lip I have, but the sizes you want will be determined by how high you want the ball. You'll probably want to bevel the under side of the washer to match the curve of the ball if you go this way.
