Basically took defender, ripped some things out, and photoshopped the rest.

This may be a dumb question but just want to make sure. You have a larger file than this one, right? Just checking because you will want a larger resolution file than that to send to be printed.
Is the arcade cabinet (and joystick) pixelated like that in the bigger version, or do the lines look smooth? That's the main thing that sticks out to me, otherwise looks good.

That much black will not look good illuminated. My £0.02

Yeah, there's too much black. Even if you added a very light pattern over it, you'd improve it quite a bit for lighting's sake.
-
yea, i have a huge 300dpi version of this, so no pixelation..
so less black? ok, ill try a different color...
-
At first glance I also thought there's too much black.....but then I thought about the black regions "disapearing" leaving the bright parts (the logo, the invader, the stick and the cab outline...) "hovering" bright in front of the dark background.....I would give it a try!!!
And I like your design very much :applaud:
Would you share your 300dpi version? Is it vector or a bitmap file?
-
ok, here is an updated one, with more color, and a background planet image from space invaders....
attached...
better or worse?

Think so? Cause, I thought the Galaga Marquee looks pretty good, and it has a lot of black

Didn't realize this was a black thang!
I didn't say marquees cant have black backgrounds, I said that this particular marquee with its black background, white outlined art and black to yellow gradient wouldn't look good printed due to the shear amount of dark space. But hey what do I know :dunno
