ive spent about £600 and still £2-300 to go on 5 machines. none complete
-
I'm building from scratch, and it's around AU$1200 so far (about £580). I still need to buy paint.
You really need to use some capital letters and full stops, or people aren't going to read your posts.

I was going to reply, but his run-on-post made my eyes bleed ... if someone can't be bothered to make their posts legible, I can't be bothered to respond.

Is this one of the times that a comma "," can replace a period "." or is that the mother of all run-on sentences?
:dizzy:
-
I can't be bothered to read that. It made my head hurt just looking at it.
-
ok edited post and added few pics, hopefully will have something up and running this month
-
Sync won't destroy it, but using so six times in your paragraph will.
-
I read a thread at another site today where the original poster capitalized the first letter OF EVERY WORD in all of his posts.
Seriously, does anyone worry about grammar/punctuation any more?
-
Another bothersome issue with the original post is the lack of spacing between paragraphs. Makes it easy to get lost and it's still hard to read.
See, if you want your questions answered, you have to write them properly, or else the thread will just go this way instead.

You should have seen it before the edit by the OP. It was one paragraph. :o

I did. See my original post.

I do. I've been on some forums where they ban your ass after two or three warnings if you don't, at least, make some kind of attempt at creating legible postings. Reading the post of someone with dyslexia AND ADD is a hell of a lot easier than reading the garbage some people write. :dizzy:

To answer the title. I figure about $120 so far. $50 for gas to get the cabs, boards, montiors, etc and another $80 or so for the parts I needed for the CP. That's about it so far.
Oh wait... I forgot I paid about $20 or so for two 21" WGs recently. So that's about $140.

Since I got into this whole MAME cabinet making dealy. I've clearly already spent over $2000 dollars. $400+ just for parts. The rest covers materials and tools. Mostly tools. I'm buying all my tools for the project. good quality tools too, no skimping out here. But saying that I bought them only for this project would make me a hypocrite and insane. I've always been wanting to buy these tools. This MAME project forced me to finally go ahead and invest in buying them. I've already used them for other non MAME related projects. And I'm glad I own them. I love my tools! Today I'm getting an impact driver, oh man!
-
To answer the question, ~$700
-
Just to clarify, please answer these questions:
How old are you?
Where do you live? I am assuming England, but please elaborate.
What is the highest level of education you have completed?
If that is the edited post...wow.
Anyways, I don't keep track of fundage. I have bought and sold so much crap, I just keep a rough net estimate in my head. I am in around a few hundred net for all of my machines.
-
So far...let's see...
About two grand. But what has that two grand got me?
ten classic arcade games in one show
a garage with several games in it
five games in my house
and a ton of parts.
And I think the figure is actually reaching rather high...probably more like 1,200.

Ah ... now I understand the question and the answer is eleventy!
If I look at my last remaining MAME machine (coincidentally my first MAME machine) -- C$150 for fully functional cocktail cab. C$50 for controls. C$50 for IPac. C$90 for ArcadeVGA. C$10 for T-molding and underlay. Had wood for the 3rd CP. Had computer. Had paint. So ... C$350 all in.
As for the rest of the stuff ... eleventy is as close as I can come to a real answer ... some machines I got for $50, some cost $500 ...
-
So Far $136 For The Computer, And $350 For The Cabinet/With Guts/Monitor Etc.
I Plan On Buying A Jpac And Possibly An Ipac Or A MiniPac.
I Hope To Have Less Than $800 When I am Finished, We'll See.
;)

About 200$ so far.

A lot more then what I tell my wife ;D

That doesn't matter. I have a friend who just finished grad school but sends emails out with no punctuation and no capitalized letters. He reasons, "Microsoft Word fixes it automatically so I don't bother". So yeah, that was money and time well spent.
Back on the original topic, I spent close to $1,500 but a lot of that was re-purchases due to mistakes (e.g. wood), over-purchases (e.g. too many buttons, etc.) and some basic power tools. Real cost was closer to $1,000 to $1,300.

I moderate at a Home Theater site and they have rules about grammer and are very strict when it comes to swearing and off color language. We give a few polite warnings, but if someone continues to do it, yeah they can get the boot. Swearing is just about an automatic ban, as is starting fights.
I have somewhere in the mid $800 for my cab so far, but that is about to climb because I'm working on a modular cp, landed a couple of Space Guns, will be adding some custom light guns... I think the little things and extras can drive the price up more than a basic cab and cp.
I don't count tool purchases though in the cost of things unless it is only going to be used once and specifically for that project.
