Has anybody installed these features to their MAME? I am wondering if there is anywhere to buy a DDR Dance pad (2 player), a guitar for something like Guitar Freaks, and lightguns for 2 players (I'm still researching the lightgun threads!). If anybody has used these things do you have any pics?

from what i have read, getting lightguns workign in mame can be a chore...especially when you want two of them. as for the other things, those are easy. if you look around the net, you can find USB dance mats, or you can always use ps2/xbox mats with controller adapters.
as for the guitars, there is a PC guitar hero controller. also, if you get a wired guitar for the xbox 360, it is USB also. i have also used PS2 guitars with a controller to usb adapter. i have not used them with any mame games, but i used them with frets on fire and they worked fine. they show up in windows as a joystick/gamepad, so they should be easy to get working in MAME.

severdhed, I have a couple of PS2 mats and was wondering how well those PS2 to USB adapters work? Does the mat just show up in windows as a gamepad or something?

Does anyone find the thought using a console dance "pad" with a stand up arcade cabinet...wrong on some level?
:dunno

What do you consider "right"? Spending $300 on a metal "arcade quality" dance pad?

Yeah my ps2 to USB adapter works great.
I bought this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-CONTROLLER-CONVERTER-for-Sony-PS-2-PS2-to-PC_W0QQitemZ140228769466QQihZ004QQcategoryZ139969QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) off ebay, figuring if its junk, I didnt waste too much cash.
While the disc that comes with it is totally engrish, it worked fine in XP and has been great. I since ditched the ps2 pads for wireless xbox 360 pads for players 3+4 on the cab though.

Thanks for the info.
Do you know if you had XP service pack 2 installed when you tried yours? Some of the adapters (I assume they are all pretty much the same?) list issues with SP2, like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/PS2-PSX-PS1-DDR-Playstation-to-USB-PC-Adapter-Converter_W0QQitemZ110251832596QQihZ001QQcategoryZ139969QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
"Remarks : For Windows XP SP2, please refer to www.microsoft.com, there still have many problem on SP2, we suggest you to use the converter on SP1"

You know, now that you link that one, that may be the one I got... I cant seem to find an order history from Ebay to confirm..
Yes I had SP2 installed and had no problems.
Edit: Yep, I cant tell, they look like the same freaking thing. Sorry im not more help. Was playing DK during lunch at work in XP SP2 though.

Those are neat, but to be honest I'm not really into these games enough to spend that much time/money (my wife, her friends, and our nieces like it though). I actually already have a couple of PS2 pads so that seems like the cheapest route.

Cool thanks!

sorry, i didn't reply sooner, but it looks like everyone else jumped in and answered. i personally have never used dance pads on my PC, only the guitar controller, and they all worked fine on xp sp2.
