I need to/want to order a new monitor for my "ok baby" arcade cab (tube is burned and picture is bad) . The current monitor measures 27" diagonal and seems to have a special frame with handles/mounting holes for mounting inside the cab. I was getting ready to order one from Wells but after reading this forum I decided to go with another manufacturer. My question is where should I buy the new monitor from and will I have to swap frames for it to fit my cab or can I order a monitor with this style frame already on it? Also, are the flat screen tube monitors recommended over the curved?
Any help would be appreciated!

that is some serious burn in.
you will need to swap frames but thats no big deal, personally i would look at a tri or quad sync monitor then you can run anything on the cab
if you are in the states then talk to rick at www.niemandisplays.com
if you are in the u.k talk to www.pentranic.com
on the tube you have the pentranic sticker which will state the actual tube type, this will help identify a good tube replacement to fit perfectly

www.niemandisplays.com.. From the looks of the website it appears they are in Canada?
Anywhere in the US to buy these?
-
nieman have distributors all over the states, first i would contact him and see what he can offer using your information then he can give you a product code and distributor to talk to
price will depend on whether you decide to go for cga only or multisync monitor
also very important that you mention the tube numbers/chassis number(yte is the make) and that you mention the tube shape(curved/semi flat-i dunno i can't see from your photo)
-
you do have other options in the states.
www.alvaamusement.com
the thing is you americans sometimes call a 29" monitor a 27",as i am aware the o.k baby are 29" tubes but your tube code will prove that

I sent rick an email. Where is the tube code? Its definitely measures at 27" diag. screen size but I from what I have been reading these use 29". I'm confused.

If you want to call me tomorrow I am sure I can help you out. I have a meeting at 10:00 EST otherwise I am open
Go to my website www.niemandisplays.com
Your pictures help, but I need some more info.
Thanks
Rick

the pentranic sticker on the side of the tube will say something like A66EAS001X01-thats the tube code, its give the tube size in centimeters and other manufacturer info
you are probably measuring the viewable screen and not the entire tube(including the black stripes) so i reckon your code will start A68 for a 29"
pretty sure i am correct but rick will know anyway

From what I've seen, 27" and 29" are the same regardless of who's saying. One is the viewable area, the other is the size of the tube.
