Hi there , I just got a new cab with a vertical monitor and a 48 in 1 jamma in it . I have noticed that if it is on for over 30 - 45 mins the picture can go a bit fuzzy and also I get vertical lines about an inch apart , they come and go . Is this a big problem to fix ?
any help would be appreciated :cheers:

depends on the monitor make/model but at best maybe a bad solder joint or a cap on the ht
do have any pics of the problem and the make/model

Did you read the monitor faq (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62016.0) posts before you started this topic.
Not bustin your cojones, just getting to the point that we need the following:
-Make and model of your monitor chassis ( a picture is worth a thousand words)
After you/we determine the make and model, edit your thread title to display this info. For example:
"WG K7000 vertical lines and fuzzy pic"
Post a pic and we can help you out a LOT more.

To answer your question, yes, these types of things can be fixed. How knowledgable are you with electronics? Do you own a multimeter? soldering iron?

Hi again, I've checked everywhere and I couldn't find the make or model , so I've took a few pictures but I don't think anyone will be able to tell from these , here they are anyway :cheers:

my god you have a hantarex mtc900,these were being phased out when i first started work-man thats old,maybe 20 years
i would suggest changing a few caps on that baby,of course check for dry solder joints first

the give away with hantarex is use of the green amp plugs,only a few copy chassis used that like early kortek and intervision
you can source all the parts for that chassis including flyback
the fault you describe is something i remember seeing on this chassis but it was over 20 years ago so i am difficulty recalling exactly what
i remember they suffered real bad dry solder joints around the flyback and surprisingly on the neck card crt socket
a monitor of that age would benefit from a complete new set of electrolitic caps,also a hantarex trait is a resistor failure on the g2 line on the neck card

I'm in college doing an electronics course but still a novice , I've got a multimeter and a solder iron.
Is it the board in pic 3 that I should check the solder joints and is that the capacitors I should also change? :cheers:

you may want to discharge it before poking around with a iron or meter :angel:

the two caps i mentioned are on the main chassis and the resistor is situated on the neck card
in my opinion it would worthwhile getting one those cap kits and replacing the lot or just reference the schem and use that to order the caps

Hi again , when you say cap kits ? is there a pack I can buy or would I get a normal 2K2 resistor and 2 x 4.7uF/250 capacitors ?(what is the /250 bit) ,sorry if I'm asking daft questions :dunno

C72 = 4.7uf 250volts
C51 = 4.7UF 250volts
C31 = 1000uf 35volts
R59 = 2k2 0.5watt
should be available from any decent electronic store

spain is an absolute god send for techs,in every small town there is a real proper electronics hardware store,these fellas stock shed loads-caps,resistors,pots,connectors.
i have a small shop near my work which i use all the time and he is always interested to know what i am fixing and how he can help
i go in a get a coffee and we talk(not that my spanish is that good) for ages about electronics and tv's
