Title: turbo outrun brake question

hi i picked up a drivin force and a turbo outrun cabinets, the drivin force one the board displays a error at inital start up and keeps rebooting, is there anyway to stop this so it loads game even with corrupt gfx, and the monitor has lines running through it diagonaly, unknowen monitor as cant get back off, with turbo outrun it has screen burn at bottom shows clocks ect but the brake sticks on and car wont move, i looked inside and the pot moves and not hard flush agains the cog, is this easy fixed or can i get a new pot? what would i need, also in cab on floor theres lots of conponents likke a big giant cap and 2 transformers, any idea what these controll, its a mini stand up.

Don't know much on the other stuff, but I'd check the wiring first.  Sounds more like there's a short, as the brake usually (not always) decreased the resistance the more the pedal was pressed.  Get a cheap multimeter and check the wiring to the mainboard, and the POT resistance while you're at it.  That'll tell you if there's anything wrong with the wiring or the POT, or if you need to look elsewhere.

i fiddled with the pot as it was loose and turned it around so screws face top like the accelerator and now it works, but the hi/low shift turbo button doesnt work when pressed, i think it works when the shift is down, so looked in cab and saw wires coming from button and one is twisted around the microswitch for the high low? how is this button originaly wired.
