Just you. He simply mamed it and that's what this forum is devoted to.
-
Well, he did build his own arcade controls.
-
Looks like any of the mamings that dozens of other beginners her have done. At least he seems to have put some effort into keeping the cuts and edges clean.
His next cab will be homemade I bet...
Consider that the cab is now being used, and nobody was clamoring to take the "Theif" cab and restore it to its pristine original thiefness.
Seen much much worse.
-
looks like a SOLID first try to me. :dunno
-
Thats a hack job. I hate when people cut the sides.
-
It does look pretty nice, though. And seriously, Theif sucks - it won't be missed. The only cool thing about it was that it uses a continuous loop tape with real police band radio banter.
-
In all my collecting I have never actually heard of anyone who actually owned a fully working Thief cabinet.

I think it looks pretty good. Better than how mine turned out. (Though I love mine, don't get me wrong)

If never even seen one in real life!

The question is whether or not that's because no wants it, or because it's incredibly sought after. I'm going to have to go with the former on this one.
-
No one wants them, that much I can say for sure. I never said I never heard of anyone who had one or passed one up, or of lots of them that sold for $25 dead at auction. I just said I never heard of one that actually worked all the way, and no one seems all that interested in fixing them.
They SEEM to be common, although that might be an illusion created by the same 50 or 100 white elephant thief cabinets transferring from owner to owner to owner.

ok, i guess it's just me then...

I'll agree with you.

Now you said something i can agree with you on! ;)
-
ok, ok, i got it...
still wouldn't trash a dedicated cab in good shape myself... even it isn't a sought-after classic.

Dedicated games that no one wants that also tend to be broken (like thief) are a great candidate for replacing the INTERNALS with Mame and leaving the externals alone. There are a decent amount of 4-way horizontal games that will play with a Thief panel, and 4-way horizontal titles are often overlooked.
