ATLANTA -- Georgia retailers soon will be banned from selling candy flavored to taste like marijuana to children.
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed a measure into law Wednesday that bans the sale of "marijuana flavored products" to minors -- anyone under 18 -- and calls for a fine of up to $500 for each offense.
The measure takes effect July 1st.
It targets businesses that sell the candies with drug-inspired names such as "Kronic Kandy" and "Pot Suckers."
The law says the candies promote drug use.
Senator Doug Stoner pushed the bill in the senate. "I don't think that folks are aware this is going on," Stoner told Channel 2 in April. "It's mainly, from what I can tell, particularly targeted to minority communities."

Ironic name aside, who would think a candy that tastes like pot is any good?
Sounds horrible.
-
Yeah, I don't think people are using marijuana because it tastes good. :P

These candies must be sold at Spencers I suppose. Don't know of anywhere else that would sell them. Might as well call them 'dirty ass' suckers. That's pretty much what they have to taste like. ;D

I knew a guy in school who was so scared to smoke it because he didn't want to smell like it, he would chew it like chewing tobacco.
Idiot.

That reminds of those gums they used to sell that looked like cigarettes.

Well those were cool because when you blew on them a puff of sugar would come out and look kind of like smoke.... okay they were incredibly lame, but I thought they were cool when I was a kid ;D I remember they stopped selling the gum ones that had the paper wrapper on each piece and the sugar on it to make the "smoke" and started selling lame candy ones that looked nothing like cigarettes. I wouldn't be surprised if it was parents outrage about how the candy looked too realistic that made them get rid of the good ones.

Hmm i wonder if Australia has gone insane with these type of stunts
I wonder if f-a-g-s the candy is still available they were cool a white stick of candy with a red tip in a box they were candy smokes

Hard to find candy cigarettes, if at all. I loved them and I'd buy them now.
They said, "Oh, this is how kids start smoking" which is funny, because my wife and I both loved them growing up and neither of us smoke.

Well, that is true, just like how playing SF2 makes it so kids beat each other up....
BTW I think you can still get "novelty" cigarettes (candy ones) at Spensors and similar stores. (Prolly have to give ID to prove age tho :dunno )
BTW I smoke; but this isnt due to candy cigs or even Joe Camel. I could blame the parents because they smoke, but I wont. I will just say "I smoke" and be done with it.

Then they should ban oregano as well. Ever thrown some oregano on the BBQ? Even in Amsterdam we had people complaining that we were getting stoned in their garden. I don't even smoke

The gum cigarettes were AWESOME! Another neat thing that was out around the same time were the simulated cigarettes. They looked real and had an end that looked like it was burning. You then put baby powder into the cig and could blow on it to make it look like smoke.
And no, I have never smoked. My dad was a 3pack/day and I saw what that did to him.

Same here. My dad smoked cigs and pot all the time, but I never wanted to be like him. (And haven't seen him since '91...and haven't much cared to)
