Okay how do you people control everything with a remote ???
for TV and monitors that uses remote.
after adding the bezel and glass..it wont work.
unless I drill a hole in the bezel and probley glass..
thats how it goes ???
would it work if I dont make a hole in the plexi glass.
never had a tv or other monitor that uses remote in a cab so really dont know. :-\
Any other way?
any kind of hack ???

Plexi would prob be ok but you have to let the IR light thru the bezel for the remote to work. Just a small hole over the IR receiver.

If you have a little money there is a better way. There are these little repeaters that you can stick over the IR sensor on your TV and then wire them to another spot on your cab, like behind the coindoor or on top of the cabinet. Then you can point the remote at the spot where you wired it.

Apparently you need three devices. The receivers that you install in a convenient location, a HUB thing that they plug into, and a repeater that you run from the hub to the TV. There is one unit in that list that comes with all three, but the receivers are wall mount things that would look kind of sucky on a cab. There are others that are much less conspicuous.
I think this is what you need, but I've never set one of these up. I used one before and they are great. The purpose is so people can put all of there home theater equipment whever they want (behind them, for example, in a setup with a projector) but they can still point the remote forward toward the screen rather than having to turn around and perhaps open a cupboard to control their components.

you should only need to drill through the bezel, not the glass, btw...

I use dark tinted plexi and no bezel. The IR goes right through it.

I had to do the same thing with my 27" TV.. Just cut a small hole lined up with the IR sensor on the tv.. No need to do anything with the plexi.

This a reason why I'm using smoked plexi on my cab. I am also using a happs bezel. The remote can go through the plexi no problem. If your plexi is dark enough that you can't see in the cab other than the monitor - when powered on - then you can just cut out a hole in the bezel. This way you can have remote access to your tv no problem and you won't be able to see an ugly hole because the darkness of the plexi will hide it.

Google search for making a simple IR repeater.. Doesn't take much.. IR sensor, IR transmittor a couple small pieces of electronics and a power supply.
Also you can go to ebay and look for a "VCR Rabbit" These devices worked as follows: The "main" one connected to an AC outlet and accepted input from the output of your VCR. It then, using a tiny 26 gauge wire pair (smaller than the telephone wire inside a handset coil!) it sent the video signal and DC voltage to the slave device in another room. That device could connect to a TV and then display the video signal on CHannel 3/4.
Why do I tell you this? Because the other thing it did was from the slave device, it sent the IR signal BACK over the same wire to the main device which then blasted the IR out of it, bouncing from the wall back to the VCR to allow you to control it from the other room.
Ingenious device actually. And they made RF (wireless) versions too. The wired ones sold for over $100 for the kit, plus $50 additional for each additional room slave device you wanted.
I just saw 2 kits today at a thrift store.. Sadly they wanted $25 each for them. I know on eBay the last couple years, they usually close for around $8-$15 for the kit. You could somehow modify them (taking the parts out of the shells) and mount the transmitting diode directly above the TV's IR sensor, and then mount the receiving one behind your marquee plexiglass or something, and the IR should pass through it.

I am not using a TV to begin with..its a nec monitor..would it still work?
I only need to use the remote so switch between RGB 1,2 and video 1,2.
PLUS there is setting for external speakers so all I gotta do is stick the wires from my cabinets speakers in the ex sperker socket and I EVEN control volume..how cool is that ! :D
I am leaning toward the drilling a tiny hole now...

Out of curiousity...how much tinted plexi glass go for(estimate?)?
Does it interfare with gun function ???
I have 2 dc guns I use all the time and wondering if tinted glass would interfare..I also use act labs guns.
any confirmation? ;D

I don't have a light gun, so I can't say for sure. But I can say that it shouldn't interfere, as long as the monitor can be turned up enough to let a decent amount of light through the plexi. The sensor in a light gun operates in the visible range of light frequencies, so if your eye can see it, so should the gun.

Thanks...I dunno if I actually wanna use tintend glass...I dont think the monitor would be bright enough :-\.

I ripped the IR input off of the tv's main board, then cut up a phone cord, and soldered the ends to the circuit board and to the IR inputs. Now I can put the IR somewhere that is visible to the remote. I'll prolly have pictures up sometime today or tomorrow.
