Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help. Here's my issue: I have a 3" Happs trackball hooked up to an OptiPac via USB. In Windows and MALA it works just fine, however once I start a game it doesn't work. All I have to do to fix it is disconnect the OptiPac USB and reconnect it to get it working again. I also have a USB mouse hooked up, and also tried with a PS/2 mouse.
I searched but didn't really find anything other than someone saying they disabled errors for the USB device in Device Manager, but that was for a different issue. The one thing I should have tried but haven't yet is unplugging the mouse and just using the trackball, but I really want to keep the mouse plugged in if possible, so an actual fix would be better.
Has anyone run across this issue or have an idea what could be causing it? The thing works great after I unplug and plug it back in, so it just seems to be the way Mame is recognizing the trackball. I do have multimouse set to 1 in Mame.ini already, and TrackballDevice is set to mouse.
Any assistance is appreciated.

you may want to try toggling the USB legacy support, and or Plug N PLay OS options in the bios.

I would start with unplugging your mice. Why do you need those plugged in if you have a trackball anyway?

Well, I don't have mouse buttons hooked up to the OptiPac, so I kind of need the mouse. I suppose it'll be superfluous once everything is finished, but for now I would like to keep it if possible. I'll try severdhed's suggestion tonight and see if that helps.

Did you enable -multimouse? Or using a version that forced it on? (Easiest if you disabled it, the default in current mame.)
If -multimouse is enabled, the TB could be mouse 2 (or higher). (More involved fix could be try remapping before un&re-plugging.)
