Title: Lights for coin door?
Post by: Zobeid on May 04, 2008, 10:28:53 pm
The coin door I got has a couple of bulb holders to light the reject buttons.  These are simple bayonet mounts, with a spring and a couple of slots.  I tried a spare bulb from a Mag-Lite and it was the right size but wouldn't stay in the holder, it's not a bayonet type bulb.  (I need bulbs with the little stobs sticking out either side.)

Either 5V or 12V bulbs would work, whichever is best.  But it's frustrating, there are so many bulbs of different sizes and types, I don't know what to get.

I'm not opposed to LEDs either, but again its a question of getting something to fit the holder.

Suggestions, anyone?

Sounds like the door originally used #44 or 47 lights. The 44's are brighter, and both run off 6 volts; I would use the 44's on 5 volts. You can find these at most auto parts stores (schucks or Napa), they are also used in almost all pinball machines, so online pinball stores will carry them too.

Hope this helps.
