i have my plexi lined up with the edges of my control panel, iam going to start by cutting out whats suppose to be the 3 inch hole for the trackball. i have the trackball mounting plate in place so i know where the hole is suppose to be. The problem is the 3 inch hole cutter i have is alot smaller than the hole in the mounting plate... whats going on here? i thought you were suppose to use a 3 inch hole cutter for the hole.

It depends where you want the plexi to end up.
The mounting plates hole, fits around the lib of the trackball. so if you did not purchase the high lip trackball, you could cut the plexi smaller than the mounting plates hole.
I would recommend beveling the plexi to prevent your skin from pinching, Mountain (I beleive) has some real nice photos and descriptions of his trackball where he beveled it. he used the mounting plate as a guide for his router and it fits perfectly around the lip of the trackball. very nice job.

after some searching it seems like the highball requires a bigger hole
3 1/4

anyone know what size hole iam suppose to use for the u360 joysticks?
-
I just used the same 1 1/8" forstner bit that I used for my buttons and there's more than enough room for the throw... just drill reeeeeeally slowly at the end, if you gun it, it'll crack super easy (I practiced on scrap a lot before doing it).

the 1 1/8 hole saw will not fit through the u360 plate
do you guys think its cool if i stick with a 1 inch hole for the joysticks? or is that going to block the throw.
so far its coming out great, i just need to drill the joystick holes and its done.

do you already have the joysticks? if so why don't you put a block at the top and bottom of the joystick, then push it forward and pull it back and mesure the distance between them, the blocks should be the same thickness as the plexi if top mounting and same thiskness as cp + plexi if bottom mounting. Add a little if you like.

Hey there. I'm a little confused, sorry... it won't fit through the plate...? I undermounted mine so I drilled the 1 1/8" hole, then measured and routed the plate from underneath, wanting that Ms. Pacman shortstick feel. Then on the top I countersunk (and puddied in) the flathead bolts, nuts on the underside.

mines top mounted so iam using the plate as the guide to where the center hole should be.
